XR500 issues with Fortnite

Recommended Posts

I have my PS5 filtered with 30 ping assist yet all the servers outside my radius keeps getting blocked which causes me to have to restart Fortnite to be able to search for another game. I even put the ping assist to 50 and they still get blocked and if I ping the servers they're roughly 30-40 ping.

The way Fortnite works is that it doesn't try multiple servers and lets you into one that is within your radius for example like CoD, it selects a server and you can either connect or you can't and it only selects this server when it's actually loading into the pre-game lobby. That means we can't block it ahead of you loading in and if it's blocked you are left waiting until it kicks you back to the lobby. For Fortnite we generally recommend to disable Filtering Mode but use the Geo-Filter to see what server you're put on, if it's not one you want then quit out and this will be faster than using Filtering Mode.

Ping Assist will take the first ping response to a server and then decide whether to allow / block, even if the ping then goes up PA has already made the decision and it will continue to be allowed/blocked.

I suspect you're getting a combination of these two factors which is making it difficult, in which case my suggestion to disable Filtering Mode specifically for Fortnite would be best.

It would be helpful to specify that like you did with the strict mode for Destiny to let people know, same for the ping assist, new users will expect lobbies lower than what they specify with ping assist.

It's not really an issue with Ping Assist that would usually appear as it would ping multiple servers the game puts forth as options, it's more due to the way Fornite matchmaking works that it makes the Geo features not work as optimally, as such it's the only game that is supported that we actually recommend to disable the Geo-Filter for. I do get where you're coming from, we're always on the look out for ways to improve the user experience so we do value your feedback and I'll definitely pass it onto the team to look at.
