Best configuration tips please

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I was wonder what the best set-up would be for the configuration I have.

ISP : Bell

Speed : 1Gig/1Gig

modem : Bell Homehub3000

so right now I have it configured that all of the wifi is disabled, wps is disabled, I have the R2 in dmz from the isp modem. Is this the most optimal setup?

Welcome to the forum!

So all devices are connected to the R2 is that correct? If so yes that is optimal.

I would recommend starting with our Optimal Settings Guides here: http://support.netduma.com/en/support/solutions/folders/16000090646

There are also ? icons on most panels that give more information about what that feature does which will help. If there is anything you're struggling with or not sure on after going through the guides just ask and we can help further!

What firmware version are you on currently?

You can follow this guide to add the default lists which includes malware http://support.netduma.com/en/support/solutions/articles/16000133055-using-adblocker-on-xr1000

How often is the WiFi cutting out and does there appear to be any pattern as to when it happens?

Here are a few suggestions to improve the WiFi.

  1. Disable Mirror Mode, give 2.4/5GHz different names and apply - you'll want to connect to 5GHz specifically for speeds, 2.4GHz for range
  2. Use a WiFi analyzer to find the least congested channel and change to that
  3. Experiment with the widths to see what gives better results
  4. Ensure it's in an elevated position - not on a metal surface
  5. Ensure there aren't any electrical / wireless devices e.g headphones etc within close proxity ~3 feet if possible
  6. Set the antennae to this position _ | | _

In the next version we have made some changes that should improve WiFi performance overall.
