netdumar2
hey i never used the Traffic Prioritization Selector option because i need to go to "advanced" and write down something called "Source Port" and "Destination Port" and since the "basic" option doesn't include the game that i play "mobile legends" i didn't know what to do... i came across a guy in youtube claming that he has the destination port here is his video and i was wondering where do i get my "source port" the "start" and the "end" and in this guy's video there's alot of "destination port" numbers which do i choose? and which protocol should i use tcp or udp? i don't know philippines but i left a message for the youtube guy asking for help and i am here asking for help since i don't know how to use this feature, thanks. Netduma Liam
Thanks for posting! Could you please set the Destination Start port to 30097 and the Destination End port to 30147. Set Protocol to TCP and UDP as well.
netdumar2
thanks a lot not only did it work but also for the fast replay i wasn't expecting a fast one. i have another question 1) what does it mean to have source port start valued at "1" and end valued at "65535"? also 2) what's the difference between each traffic type? sorry for asking a lot of question it's just I am finally getting an answer and I am happy about it also 3) how did you know the value of the destination port? you gave me "30097" and "30147" but in the youtube video that I have linked there was a lot of ports values. Netduma Liam
No problem! To answer in order: That means you're covering all ports for the source, it has the same results and is easier when we just worry about the destination ports. We need to update this as it's outdated, basically use normal for wired devices, video for video content and gaming/voice for wireless traffic I googled Mobile Legends ports and took the range that was mentioned. It may require some fine tuning but this should get it working initially. Let me know if there's anything else I can help with.
netdumar2
again thanks for giving me a simple and understandable explanation and I will take your offer: 1) what does "apply to wan" do? 2) since there is more than just one port for mobile legends if i connect to multiple ones does it do anything? like getting more stable ping? or one port might provide lower ping? since the way i understood port is similar to a road that connect two cities what does each of these toggles do? 3) i know that ipv6 is needed since there isn't many ipv4 but what does it do if i turn it on? 4) the way i understood STP is that it helps prevent the interference that you might get if many devices in my house uses 2.4ghz, is that true? 5) dmz is a separate subnetwork that is used in companies to prevent "visitors" from by passing the firewall is that correct? Netduma Liam
No problem Apply to WAN appends the same priority tags used within QoS to priority traffic leaving the WAN interface. It's not really possible to check whether it gets recognised and prioritised by routers upstream, but there's no harm in trying it. Multiple ports are used for multiple different purposes, the main thing is that we try to include all ports the game might use to ensure all game traffic is prioritised. If your ISP utilises IPv6, enable this to ensure the R2 uses IPv6. If not, don't worry about it, leaving it disabled will just mean you use IPv4. STP prevents loops in the network. If you've got a particularly large network with many different routers, STP stop traffic from getting caught in loops, breaking the network. It's rare that your home network will be this large so you can leave that disabled. Simply put, if you put a device in the DMZ, the R2 will send all traffic that it receives to that IP. This traffic will also bypass the firewall, so it's not recommended to put anything in the DMZ that doesn't have it's own firewall/security measures. You shouldn't need to use this unless you have another router below the R2.
