R2 keeps disconnecting

This is the second R2 I’ve had now, I got it when it first came out and ended up selling it for similar issues but recently decided to get another one due it supposed to be receiving the new updates first and I though have numerous bios updates the issues would have been fixed but they aren’t. It’s always randomly disconnecting, could only last a few seconds to a few mins or if I restart it but this happens multiple times throughout the day and It’s really annoying, the xr500and xr1000 I have don’t have this issue at all. The Wi-Fi is terrible, it seems to run almost all devices slower then the 500/1000 and on my wife’s ps5 on Fortnite she is always getting the connection bar pop up and having her latency spike up in the 100’s/200’s sometimes from around 20ms which is what the normal ping is and her ps5 is in the same room as the router. Personally speaking my pc usually runs fine and the only reason I’ve kept it is the hit detection on the XR1000 on warzone was horrendous and my XR500 don’t have the auto setup for qos like the r2. I’ve factory reset it multiple times nothing fixes any of these issues.

Are all devices disconnecting or is it just wireless devices that are having trouble?

What firmware version are you currently running on the R2, 3.0.394?

How do you currently have QoS configured? That would be a big help to the ping spikes your wife is having.

Yeah I’m currently running the .394 firmware but all of them in the past have been no different. It seems to be all devices wireless and hardwired when it decides to disconnect.

speeds are 1000mb up and 500 down

qos is set to auto enable but I usually reconfigure it using the auto setup due to how warzone seems to randomly start not connecting bullets good so every few days I reconfigure it, don’t really care to much about how hers does that but the way it always drops the internet makes it not worth even having, like I’ve said this is my second r2 I’ve had and they’ve both had the same issue since they first released and seems like others are on here to.

OK thanks for letting me know. Could you please try a couple of things for me to help with the disconnections:

  • Go to Network Settings -> LAN -> DHCP and set the lease time to 168 hours.
  • Change the minimum DHCP range value to be .50 if it's less than that. If it's higher than that don't worry.
  • In the same page, reserve IP addresses for each device on the network. Make sure these addresses are outside of the DHCP range.

Save these settings then reboot the router.

The latest firmware version included a big fix that resolved disconnection issues for many users. Some remaining users that were still experiencing problems found that the above steps resolved their issue.

Let me know how you get on with it, if it helps we can also look at the issue of ping spikes for your wife.

Also now that I’ve hooked my xr500 back up it wouldn’t connect to the internet and forced me to completely reset it and when clicking on qos is always pops up a message stating device not found every time I click qos and the area to have stuff like duma classified games won’t load.

Have tried reverting back to multiple different firmwares still same error, upgraded back to 130 still same error. Cleared browsing data tried multiple browsers and devices still same error, did the erase data as recommended in other posts then upgraded still the same error. I’m honestly pissed off as fuck right now, this is all caused by the shitty ass r2. I have switched back and forth from the xr500,xr1000 multiple times and never had any issues but as soon as I hooked the r2 up and tried to go back now this shit happens, I’ve tried everything listed on any forum even the info at https://kb.netgear.com/000059633/How-do-I-upload-firmware-to-my-NETGEAR-router-using-a-TFTP-client-on-Microsoft-Windows which don’t work and the info provided in that article is invalid starting with trying to set a static ip it just don’t work and I should have to do that to begin with.

I was able to fix it, just for reference for anyone else that ever has this issue the duma app was still working and it was due to previous rules I had set under traffic prioritization, once deleted from the duma app it instantly started working on my pc again. I would still like to get a refund on the r2 though I’m never touching that trash again but I am over the refund date.

Glad to hear you've resolved the issue you were experiencing with the XR. When did you purchase the R2?

You can view the full return terms for the R2 at netduma.com/terms.

We'll need to troubleshoot the R2 and conclude that we can't resolve the issues you're experiencing.

Understood, if in future you change your mind and would be happy to do some troubleshooting with us we would be more than happy to do that. Just let us know.
