XeyaI Posted January 26, 2022 Posted January 26, 2022 Hello, Sorry if this is under the wrong topic or if i sound like a noob but looking for some advice. Today im having alot of problems with my isp (virgin media) and whenever my isp router is set to modem mode the internet is pretty much unusable. The only way anything will work is by setting it to router mode. I have been seeing people say to then put my xr1000 into the dmz of the isp router but after looking around google dmz seems abit insecure? And i cant get a straight answer. Is using dmz the correct way? Is it safe? Or even the optimal setup Any advice is helpfull Thank you
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 26, 2022 Administrators Posted January 26, 2022 I have Virgin Media and I find modem mode to be a bit iffy as well, I put my router in the DMZ of the VM Hub. It is perfectly safe as the XR1000 has it's own built in firewall so you're still protected. I would suggest you use the DMZ method.
XeyaI Posted January 26, 2022 Author Posted January 26, 2022 Okay thank you, are their any settings that i should change on either router?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 26, 2022 Administrators Posted January 26, 2022 On the V hub you could set the IP you're putting in the DMZ as static to make sure it doesn't change but other than that you're all good. You could disable WiFi on the V hub to ensure all devices connect to the XR.
