bigpoppafox
Hey guys, I am having so many issues with the R2 just wondering if this is just user error. I had to disable the adblocker because it was blocking my google home devices from connecting to the internet or interacting with each other, then today i had to disable the geo filter because it was blocking me from connecting to discord. On top of these issues, both my wired and wireless speeds have been slow compared to what they were before. I am switching to the R2 from a Linksys Velop mesh router system. I never had issues before i was just interested in the features the R2 offered, specifically for gaming but sheesh, this has been bad. I get 600mbps down hard wired on my old system, but on the R2 I am only getting 120-150 mbps, before on wifi I was getting anywhere from 100-150 on wifi but on the R2 i am only getting 10-15 mbps. It has been pretty frustrating. I only have a 1300 sq ft place and my router is dead in the middle of my house but i only get 1-2 bars of wifi (out of 3) anywhere in the house except in the same room as the router, that seems a little off to me. Just wondering if there is something i am missing because i am having a rough go of it. I have already updated to the latest firmware posted on the site. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 23, 2021 Administrators Share Posted December 23, 2021 Hey, welcome to the forum! Good thing is these are things that can be improved upon! To start if you haven't already done a factory reset after the new firmware I would suggest doing that first, do so from the interface then wait 2 minutes before accessing. For the Adblocker issue, re-enable it and attempt to use the Google home device, then on the Adblocker page you should see some queries blocked on the device line, click that and then make a note of the domains and then add them to the whitelist (it could take a few tries to get all the domains used). Once you've done this you'll be able to use them with the Adblocker enabled. For Discord, on the Geo-Filter look at the map (zoomed out) when Discord doesn't work there should be something blocked on the map, click on the icons (may need to disable Auto Ping first) then add them to the allow list, you may need to try this a few times, once done you can connect to Discord with the Geo-Filter enabled. What is the modem/router the R2 is connected to? Have you entered the speeds you're supposed to get in Bandwidth settings? For WiFi, firstly set the router antennae to look like this _ | | _ and disable mirror mode, give 2.4/5GHz different names then apply. Reboot from the interface, wait 2 minutes then connect manually to 2.4/5GHz - 5GHz for higher speeds. If the speed isn't boosted use a WiFi analyzer to find the least congested channels and change to those, you can then also experiment with the widths.
