How to disable WPS?

Recommended Posts

I have a XR450 and I recently upgraded to the latest firmware.  While I was in the settings, I was browsing the various sections.  When I purchased this router, years ago, I was unable to disable WPS (light is always on on top of the router).  I figure this feature would eventually be added (should have been from the start).   Is it still not possible to disable WPS?

I'm not entirely sure as it's a feature of Netgear's, but can you disable it with the following steps?

  1. Go to Advanced Setup, then choose Wireless Settings.
  2. Under WPS Settings, select the Disable Router's Pin check box.
  3. Select Apply.

Let me know if that helps.

I don't have such an option in my router settings.  The only place that mentions WPS is the WPS Wizard section.

OK, perhaps not an option yet then. It may be best to reach out to NETGEAR direct about this, you can raise a ticket with them at support.netgear.com.

Let me know if you need anything else!
