Robroberti
Hi Guys. I have my Xbox series s. On Xbox settings it says Nat open. On warzone the nat is moderate. Router has port forwarding 3074 and 3075 TCP/UDP. Still same result. What can I try? Thank you
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 14, 2021 Administrators Share Posted November 14, 2021 Hey, welcome to the forum! Based on reports from others it does appear to be a misreading and I believe it happens every year with their new game. Connect the Xbox direct to the modem, do you still have a moderate reading then? If so you can ignore it as it will be open. Also a moderate NAT won't negatively impact your game experience. ajack
Hi guys. I figured i would chime in. I do not consider myself a novice network technician and even i am at a loss as to why the game reads moderate NAT. I am playing Vanguard on Series X and nothing I can do changes the nat type. I suppose i should be happy it say moderate and not strict. I went as far as doing a packet capture and seeing exactly what my xbox is talking to and what talks back to it. Mostly my situation uses UDP ports 3074 and 3075 although the console and the game talks to several ips for login, authentication, server lobbies and queuing. I am using DMZ instead of port forwarding so even if there were a configuration issue causing the NAT issue, I should not be affected. I can also verify that it is not my router or config because the console itself says OPEN nat, as well as Cold War says open NAT. I want to figure it out.. because I experience a LOT of rubber banding and "Press X to die" as I call it. Thats when you [ress X to spawn in and die immediately. I thought if I could get a capture and see what was going on I could be better equipped to tell whomever how to fix it properly..be it activision, sledgehammer, demonware, etc. I do have the capture saved so i could provide it to a mod if needed but I doubt theres anything we can do. I DID submit a ticket with activision. But I DO NOT have a great track recod with them as they insist on using and showing a video of using port forwarding before the can "escalate the issue to the higher team". its frustrating because when implemented properly DMZ is ALWAYS the better option when you dont need the security of port forwarding. Fir those of you that dont know.. consoles like XBOX, Playstation ,etc can be placed in DMZ without much worry. I DO NOT recommend placing a PC in the DMZ unless you enjoy the world being able to attempt to hack in literally 24/7. If its a gaming only PC that you do not shop on or do anything regarding finances on.. then fine. But I still dont recommend it. Hopefully it gets fixed soon. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 9, 2021 Administrators Share Posted December 9, 2021 @ajack it's unlikely to be anything on your end, as you said, the console has an Open NAT so it's not really possible for the game not to have one. It is definitely a misreading but it won't be causing your lag issues, I'd recommend trying to force some other servers and looking at your QoS settings to combat it. I am having some other issues related to CoD. I'll start a new thread for them as they are (most likely) not related to NAT. Thank you.
