No internet connection wirelessly or wired

Since yesterday, my R2 has been connecting and disconnecting from the internet, whether thru WiFi or Ethernet. I tried disconnecting and plugging back in but still same issues. At first thought it was problem with my internet provider, but I connected old router and everything has been fine. The R2 may have some sort of problem or defect because connection is horrible. Previously though, it was working fine to my understanding.

Hey, welcome to the forum!

Sorry to hear you're having this issue. Did your setup or settings change yesterday that you're aware of? How often is it disconnecting/reconnecting? What is the model of your modem/router?

No I haven’t changed anything, everything seems the same. It may actually have had some connectivity issues before but it wasn’t so bad. Now when I connect my r2, doesn’t connect at all. But it’s perfect on my old router. Yesterday it was disconnecting every like 20 minutes. I have a spectrum modem/router, not quite sure what it is exactly though. Don’t think modem/router is the problem because they work perfectly without the R2.

I don't necessarily think the modem/router is the cause, I suspect the R2 isn't reconnecting properly when the ISP modem/router assigns a new IP address. Access the modem/router and give the R2 a static/reserved IP address, then reboot the R2 from the interface and see if that resolves the issue.

Hmmm. Can you tell me step by step? I’m not that tech savvy with routers

Almost but not quite. The modem/router when you access it should have an attached devices section where the R2 should be listed and it will have an IP address - you can also see this IP address on the System Information page of the R2 under WAN IP. Then go to LAN Settings on the modem/router and set a reservation for that IP address so it doesn't change

Ok I’m under system information for R2. And in network status. It says wan op disconnected, doesn’t show any IP address.

Also I got my modem/router IP address from connected old router back and logging into the admin settings and checking it. It was same thing I got originally from checking through windows and command prompt

Did you check the WAN IP in System Information when you didn't have an internet connection?

What is the model of the modem/router I'll look it up and give you more specific instructions.

Yes the router I have is a spectrum sagemcom router rac2v1s.

Do so when you have a connection, then you will be able to enter it.

I'm getting some conflicting information online, can you provide a screenshot of the sage interface and I should be able to direct you from there.

I attached a picture of it. I put line through IP address and stuff for privacy. I see the area where you said add reserved address. I just don’t know how to fill it out because it asks for Device name and MAC address.

Great work! You can find the R2 MAC address in Settings > WAN > Network then you can put that in along with the WAN IP from System Information and you should be good to go.

ok just to be clear...on the sage interface that i showed, i add reserved address>then write the mac address for r2> then write the wan IP from picture i included? Ill try it out

So when I connect my r2, is still have no internet connection. And under system information, I can’t check the wan ip. When I was making the reserved address, I inputted the MAC address for the r2, but when I tried to input “IP address”, it said invalid address. So I just put the “IPv4 pool start” address because that was only one that worked. Kinda stuck.
