montyduma
Hi, I just received my new router today, and I tried to set it up, but every time I try to, my computer says “cannot connect to internet, ip address not available”. I have tried to factory reset the router multiple times to no avail. I would really appreciate the help as soon as possible.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 16, 2021 Administrators Share Posted March 16, 2021 Hey, welcome to the forum! You will need to access the router interface to complete the setup wizard before you can get internet, it should work after that.
montyduma
my guy, I setup the router wizard the first time, and then I had to unplug it because it took more than 30 min for the router to "setup wifi", and now whenever I try to setup the router, it tries to connect, but it will boot itself off the wifi, saying, "cannot connect to the internet, no ip address available". I tried to manually change the ip address to the what it is on the router, but instead it will say its connected, then it will boot itself offline again. Even with multiple factory resets, the router doesn't actually reset. It won't even let me put in the password because of the "ip address not found" problem. I cannot access the router interface if your router won't let me connect to the internet in the first place.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 16, 2021 Administrators Share Posted March 16, 2021 Were you setting it up while connected to WiFi? If so you would have needed to reconnect to WiFi according to the new credentials you had set and it should have allowed you to continue then. You don't need internet to access the interface so that won't be the issue. Can you try connected via ethernet and see if it will allow access? If not then while connected to the router open command prompt on your PC, type ipconfig and press enter, then post a screenshot of the results here please. montyduma
here’s what i got: usage: ipconfig <command> <args> where <command> is one of waitall, getifaddr, ifcount, getoption, getpacket, get v6packet, getra, set, setverbose whenever i try to load the setup by typing in the ip address in my search bar, it’s just stuck in an endless loop, even when connected to ethernet. I still can’t connect to it via wifi becauses it freezes trying to connect. i’ve tried to factory reset multiple times but I think it’s just bugged man
