Guest Netduma Luke
We are looking at the exciting world of plugs at the moment: To our American friends - how widely used are 3 pin sockets? To put it another way, if you were a Netduma customer and it came with a 3 pin plug, would you mind? I assume the answer is that it's fine but I wanted to check. (I've been to America a few times but I have to admit, I've never focussed on the sockets...)

I've yet to see any of the following use them: - Routers - Modems - Switches They just don't, unless they are commercial grade.

abc123
Knew I could rely on you for the answer. Thanks mate. no problem, so the answer is: Would we mind: no Would it be required over a 2 pin: no Would it be better than a 2 pin: if an electrical surge were to occur then you "might" not damage the device, but since this router's power supply is built into the mobo...it will break it... So potato potato

So potato potato But also, as you mentioned -- just about nobody ships consumer electronics with 3 pin plugs, so going with 2 would not be unusual or unexpected. Short of bigger devices like TVs and computers, it is rare to see something with 3. I don't care either way. Anything I don't want to blow up when there are power problems I keep on surge protectors or a UPS.

I agree, I expect 2 pin on an electronic item like this and I would have that sucker going to a UPS. I'd at put "my precious" behind a surge protector at the very least, the electrical system is a little fragile on the island and we get a lot of lightning during rainstorms.
