Warejon9 Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 I was wondering how easy it would be to make just a modem only version, to be able to use just the dumaOS portion, so could then use a mesh system to provide the Wifi, rather than buying an R1 or R2 (sadly missing wifi 6 :(
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 30, 2020 Administrators Posted November 30, 2020 Hey, welcome to the forum! A pure modem does not have many options as they do not do any routing of internet to devices - they pass the internet straight through to a router. A modem/router in one on the other hand, such as what Telstra use which has DumaOS on is more do-able. However, the issue with this is there are a lot of different types of connections and a router is a way to have universal compatibility. You can use a mesh WiFi system if you want, just disable the WiFi on the router.
Warejon9 Posted December 1, 2020 Author Posted December 1, 2020 Thank for replying so quickly. That makes sense, would it be feasible to make a unit that did have the wifi hardware, as a cost saving?

I imagine it would be more expensive as it would need to be both a modem and a router or do you mean ourselves make a mesh system?
