Vade
Hello! I have a problem. I bought R2 in a while ago but I haven't gotten it work properly. I have Huwaei B715 as my default gateway and I play on xbox. When I tried to put Huawei in bridge the R2 doesent work. If I dont use the R2 when the gateway is in bridge and just plug my xbox straight to gateway it works. But I need to be able to use the R2 router that I just bought! What do I need to do? Please help! Does it have to do something with DHCP? My default gateway gives 192.167.x.x adress to the R2 i think it shouldn't be doing that. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 5, 2020 Administrators Share Posted November 5, 2020 Hey, welcome to the forum! How is the bridge mode set, to the port, MAC, IP address? After you try bridge mode reboot the R2 and see if it gains a connection. If not, take bridge mode off, get the WAN IP from the R2 System Information page and put that in the Huawei DMZ and that will work.

Disable bridge mode on the Huawei Access the R2 interface Go to the System Information page Copy the WAN IP address Access the Huawei interface Find the DMZ function (usually in Firewall or Security, sometimes LAN/WAN) Enter the copied WAN IP and apply Devices connected to the R2 should now get an Open NAT
Vade
Did that. Network seems to be working now but xbox says double nat. How do I fix that and should I bind the R2 mac address ip that it currently has so that the dmz works kn longer run too?
Vade
I dont have public ip address from my isp end so does that affect this situation and double nat?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 5, 2020 Administrators Share Posted November 5, 2020 Disable UPnP on the Huawei as well. So you used the WAN IP in System Information on R2 to put in DMZ right, not the one you use to access the interface? Yes would be a good idea to do that. I'm not sure what you mean with the last statement but that won't matter.
Vade
Yes. R2 (ip: 192.168.1.x) is now set up DMZ in huawei. UPnP is disabled and it still gives me double nat and strict nat type.🤔
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 5, 2020 Administrators Share Posted November 5, 2020 Do you have the Huawei connected to anything else, another router for example?
Vade
No sir. Also for your information I don't have cable or fiber, I use 4G mobile connection for my gateway. I don't really know what is going on my connection benchmark is terrible as you can see! I get around 100-120 ping in warzone and 80-100 in multiplayer. Why do I have so much jitter and unstable connection even tough I am the only one connected in my house? I have congestion control both on 1% and bandwidth UP/DOWN setup on gaming
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 5, 2020 Administrators Share Posted November 5, 2020 Ahh I see, that might be because of the mobile connection then, we've seen people struggle with open NAT with those types of connections. In the Congestion Control 3 line option menu, set the speeds that you actually get. It is so high and fluctuating due to the 4g connection. For Ping Test Under Load experiment with the Congestion Control percentages to find what lowers it the most.
Vade
So am I doomed with terrible connection for the rest of my life until I get fiber?😖😭😔
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 5, 2020 Administrators Share Posted November 5, 2020 If you look at your base ping there it fluctuates between 44 and 116ms, we can't do anything about base ping, that is down to your ISP. So yes in order to improve that you would need to go away from 4G internet. We can help you to make the most of what you have though.
Vade
Im trying to get rid of double nat at least. I have tried: 1. - Huwaei UPnP off - R2 UPnP on - Huawei DMZ on (R2 WAN IP) - R2 mac address binded to its current ip, so it wont change --> Xbox says double nat & strict 2. - Huawei UPnP off - (R2 UPnP off) - Huawei DMZ on (R2 WAN IP) - R2 mac address binded to its current ip, so it wont change --> Xbox don't detect double nat says UPnP failed and it's still strict So what would I need to do to be able to get open or moderate nat? Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 6, 2020 Administrators Share Posted November 6, 2020 Put the Xbox in the R2 DMZ and see if that helps. Doesn't really make much sense though, I think the 4G network has some ports blocked which you can't affect. Try contacting them and see if they block any ports. Vade
I think my isp have some ports blocked cause they sell services that provide "public ip address" and they mention that you must buy this extra feature in order to get open nat type for multiplayer games. Sad but true im stuck with 4G and im losing my hope.
