BT Internet-Openreachmodem-NetdumaR2 SkyQ disconnection

Hi All,

Has anyone successfully solved my problem?

I have BT internet and am using an open reach modem to my Netduma R2 (previously had xr300 which was a nightmare), My main Sky Q box is disconnecting all the time, guaranteed drop out every night and sometimes during the day meaning I have to go round the house connecting all the sky mini boxes again!  Sky have replaced the box multiple times but I'm still facing the same problem

I'm unable to run a ethernet direct to the main box due to having a toddler but my router is all of 5 meters away from the box so I don't see that being the issue

Has anyone found a setting on the R2 which will stop the box from disconnecting? I'm not particularly techy with these things so if you have found a solution I'll need it explained in simple terms!

Thanks in advance

Phil

Hi Fraser,

Sky Q is the main offender, every night with fail!

I’ll try to setup the traffic controller today and report back, Looking at the sky and BT forums it seems a common thing, if you can fix this I’ll be shouting about the R2 all over them

Thanks

HI Fraser,

No luck I'm afraid, still getting the drop outs on sky Q, open to any other suggestions

Tbh if you are using sky its meant to be on 5Ghz as you know if you have sky mini boxes, it tends not to play well with non sky routers. Sky only uses 5Ghz for back haul on its minis and each acts like a mini hotspot but that's on 5Ghz. If you are using the R2 it will connect at 2.4Ghz as its not a sky router and the whole system falls apart without the back haul for the minis. So you either use the sky router or hardwire the system, as the Q box cant function properly on 2.4Ghz and act as as a mesh network without your main sky router doing its job. This is all easily found on the sky community help forums by the way. Sky and sky Q and sky mini boxes are not meant to be used with third party routers as they cant make a proper mesh, 2.4Ghz has no back haul provision on the Q box.

You've explained that far better than anything I've read on the sky & BT forums, thanks for you help! I will try and hardwire the main boxing see how I get on!
