mickster7
hey guys, just need some advice. I originally had the r1 which I loved but about 3months ago it started sparking at the psu (possibly damaged during some home renovations etc..). Anyway I ditched it and bought a rax80 with mesh extender. I'm not overly impressed for the money I've spent and occasionally at random it drops the connection and needs a reboot. Anyway I'm thinking of getting the r2 and running the rax80 as an access point, that way my gaming benefits from the r2 and the house has extensive wifi6 coverage from the rax80 and mesh extender ... any thoughts if this would be an ok setup? Or would using the r2 instead of the rax80 be a downgrade? In all honesty I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to networking. Cheers Mickster
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 15, 2020 Administrators Share Posted August 15, 2020 Hey, welcome to the forum! You could absolutely do it that way - obviously the R2 is not going to perform the same wirelessly as AX so having that in AP mode so you get the best of WiFi and the best of software is a good idea. Any devices connected to the AP then will appear as though they're directly connected to the R2 so you can apply settings to them directly. mickster7
Thanks Fraser for your response. I'll give the r2 a go ... i think for £130 it'll be worth it 👌
