zackw
I live in Michigan and the server it chooses is in Redman Washington, the ping is about 150 and its terrible. I put the filter on a 500 mile radius around Michigan and added my xbox and hard reset my console multiple times and it still connects to the same server. Never another no matter what I do. It shouldn't be this difficult to do if the router is designed for geofiltering.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 10, 2020 Administrators Share Posted August 10, 2020 Hey, welcome to the forum! Could you provide a screenshot of what you're seeing please so we can further advise?
zackw
Here are some shots of when I load my Xbox and then when I'm about to load into warzone,it shows the servers being blocked, but those are the Washington servers they are using. Can't get any closer ones to connect.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 10, 2020 Administrators Share Posted August 10, 2020 That peer in the radius in your screenshot, if you reduce the radius/place your home location so that's just within your radius can you force it? zackw
I've tried forcing peers and other servers and it always uses the same server. The ping is anywhere from 100 to 150 when i play with alot of lag. I can't get any other server to connect. What else do you suggest ? Thanks. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 11, 2020 Administrators Share Posted August 11, 2020 Put your location in the ocean and put Ping Assist to 30 ms, are you able to get lower ping games that way?
zackw
No,that doesn't work either. Do you think I need to factory reset the router? Will you be having a firmware update to fix this issue? It seems to be a common issue.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 11, 2020 Administrators Share Posted August 11, 2020 From the screenshots you've posted it does look like it is blocking/allowing correctly. There is certainly no harm in doing a reset. Have you signed up for the beta? If so what is your Netgear community username? I'll try and get you boosted up the list. zackw
Yeah,it appears to work, but doesn't. I couldn't figure out how to sign up for the beta. I think my username is zackw.
zackw
My community name also could be zack wiltse. Do you have any other suggestions that may fix the problem?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 11, 2020 Administrators Share Posted August 11, 2020 You can sign up for the beta here: http://www.netgearinnovation.com/dumaos-beta/index.html Install the latest firmware using this TFTP method and then perform a factory reset: https://kb.netgear.com/000059634/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-Windows-TFTP That will make it as new as possible. zackw
I think installing the new firmware is what made my router quit working. Before the update my router was connected to a server in Battle Creek Michigan and my ping averaged around 60. Now no matter what I do it won't get off the Redman Washington server and won't connect to anything else at all. I shouldn't have to factory reset to get my router to work properly. Ridiculous. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 12, 2020 Administrators Share Posted August 12, 2020 Try downgrading to the version that worked for you previously and then disable Auto Update in the Firmware options. See if when downgrading it behaves as you would expect.
