sohrabss Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 Hi, Recently, I am unable to get internet through my NETDUMA router. This started when I disconnected my Netduma router from my Virgin Media router which I had set up in Modem mode. Now when I reconnect it, there is no internet. I have tried resetting both my Netduma and VM router but I get the same problem. Not sure if it is the IP address that's causing the issue. I am on the newer firmware. Need help urgently please.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 13, 2020 Administrators Posted May 13, 2020 Hey, welcome to the forum! Firstly I'd switch the VM back to router mode, confirm you have internet through that first. Then connect the R1 while VM is in router mode, do you get a connection then?
sohrabss Posted May 15, 2020 Author Posted May 15, 2020 Internet comes through fine in modem mode through VM router. Still no connection.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 16, 2020 Administrators Posted May 16, 2020 Okay that's good, sometimes modem mode can be finicky so I'd suggest now trying to switch back as you were able to establish a connection so it should work now. If not go back to router mode, put the WAN IP of the R1 into the DMZ on the VM and disable the VM WiFi, that will essentially act just like modem mode.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 16, 2020 Administrators Posted May 16, 2020 Modem mode? Use it in router mode then as I mentioned with the settings. I have VM and that is the way I use it as well and it works perfectly that way.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 16, 2020 Administrators Posted May 16, 2020 You can find it on the System Information page on the Internet Status panel.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 16, 2020 Administrators Posted May 16, 2020 This is when the VM is in router mode with the R1 connected? Could you provide a screenshot of the page please?
sohrabss Posted May 21, 2020 Author Posted May 21, 2020 It works now in router mode and putting my netduma IP in DMZ, thanks. Although still not sure why it doesn't work in modem mode.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 21, 2020 Administrators Posted May 21, 2020 Great to hear that, thanks for the update. I've always found it can be quite temperamental with modem mode hence why I don't use it myself.
