One go
I have been using the Geo-filterting feature with Halo 5 for the last couples of week without any major issues, every once in a while I was kicked out of the game (my teammates were left with one less player) but after being party leader it would normally work. However today something must have change because even thought the dedicated server was inside the allowed distance range, a Player with a triangled showed in the midle of the US (I live in Spain), so outside of my allowed distance and I was kicked out. This happened a number of times, (at least 5 o 6) out of 9 games, so feature unusable... Perhaps they have changed something in Halo 5 authentications servers? Anyone has experienced similar issues? Thanks for any help...
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 3, 2020 Administrators Share Posted May 3, 2020 Hey, welcome to the forum! That is certainly possible, could you provide the ID of that icon that appears in the US? I can then check it and if necessary we can add them to the cloud. One go
So far I have detected three nodes with this problem, I live in Spain, they all appear in the middle of USA but I think they are closer, as normally to the center of US I have 150 ms ping as average. Node ID 1997440f34b8868b (IP 151.139.184.15) gives me 10-12 ms ping (IMPOSSIBLE) appeared in normal matchmaking would make me get kicked out in matchmaking if I don't allow it. Node ID f4146732b1932d32 (IP 20.50.147.50) gives me 35-40 ms (IMPOSSIBLE) always appeared when I was trying to play customs games. Node ID f3148550b1922d32 (IP 20.50.146.80( gives mi around 38 ms (IMPOSSIBLE) would make me get kicked out in matchmaking if I don't allow it. What I am doing in order to get aroun this is allow these nodes and it seems to be working, but it seems they keep changing everyday. The best solution would be to correct the Geo-data which is obviosly incorrect. Also a good feature to add to the GUI is when you ping these nodes from the Allow and Deny Applet that the location would show on the map (with different icon perhaps) so you could easily see if the location makes sense or not...) I think you have a great product but it requires constant overview and verification of the geo-location data, otherwise its ususable. Thanks for any help! Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 5, 2020 Administrators Share Posted May 5, 2020 Thank you very much, I can confirm they do need to be whitelisted. If you find any more in future, could you add them to this form please? https://forum.netduma.com/topic/29742-found-mislocated-servers-post-here/ That will allow us to incorporate them into the next update. I have submitted these three for you. That is a good idea, I will suggest it to the team. That is what happens with IP databases, they're not always 100% accurate and constantly need to be updated as IP blocks are bought/sold, more servers are brought online etc.
One go
Thanks for the help! After you guys made the change, everything back to normal. Haven't got kicked out of a match at start since then. 5 stars! Thanks! I have found another server misplaced and also that needs to be whitelisted that show in Australia but is much closer, I will use your form to submit it. Thanks!
