Ernie
So I live in Los Angeles. Get 500 down. I am wired. Just got the xr500 in hopes of getting 5 bars. In FIFA that’s the best connection you can get. 30 ping or under gets you 5 bars. All year I have got 4 bars. Ping around 40. Weird thing is I got 5 bars a little while ago but for only one second. Strange that was the only time and for a mere second. So made me start thinking why one time all year for one second. Maybe I can get the almighty 5 bars? so decided to get the xr500. Just hooked it up last night. Trying out the geofilter. I see there is a server in Oregon. I’m connection to It as well. I’m fairly close but still can’t get the 5 bars. I’m positive I was connecting to this server before but now I have proof. so I’m here in hopes that it’s possible to drop my ping a little more to finally get the connection I’ve always wanted. Need help though from the forum!
Ernie
http:// Im tinkering with it. I moved my location to the spot of the server but also enough to still cover my true location. I actually got one awesome ping. But after that it’s the usual pong around 40. Hope this info helps out The low ping was when I was loading the whole game and was connecting to servers. When I go into an actual game it’s around 40. It’s still the same server though.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 21, 2020 Administrators Share Posted April 21, 2020 What is your base ping? - Do a speedtest.net test when there is nothing using the internet, what ping do you get? That will tell you whether its possible to get that low a ping. Usually you can add ~10-20 ping on top to determine what kind of game ping is possible (exception is when you live extremely close to the server). Are you using QoS at all? Ernie
Usually this is the lowest but mostly around 500-530down. I used QoS a bit. Did some common things most do. Made the PS4 get more on the chart and made it priority. Other than that not much more.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 22, 2020 Administrators Share Posted April 22, 2020 Okay that is decent. In your pictures where are the servers? Seems like they may be mislocated, if you un zoom the map do you see them? Are you using Ping Assist?

Have it 536 miles and that covers the server as well. Have ping assist at 25. Other servers pop out in the East. Three servers or symbols pop out in the the US. It always grabs the Portland sever. Though sometimes it says on the details “peer” and not “dedicated”.
Ernie
Also in those pictures. I was trying to put my position close to the servers even though I’m in Los Angeles. The details above is what I normally do.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 22, 2020 Administrators Share Posted April 22, 2020 Position your radius so it does not include that server and turn ping assist to 0. Are you able to force or at least see any other servers that may be closer?

Ernie
It also doesn’t connect to no servers. Can’t play any multiplayer. It goes into the game but can’t connect for any kind of multiplayer mode.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 23, 2020 Administrators Share Posted April 23, 2020 Could you ping all those servers please and see what you get? They may not all be as high a ping as you think.

Anyway to drop jus a little and get in the sweet spot? I read dmz, static ip and other things like that. I have never tinkered with anything of that nature. So I would need some help if possible. Jus frustrating not being able to drop ping a little bit.

Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 25, 2020 Administrators Share Posted April 25, 2020 What is your exact physical setup? Let me know that and we'll get your physical setup optimally for NAT. Then we can go through how to optimize your QoS as much as possible to see if we can bring down that ping a bit.

Modem to router wired. Router to PS4 hardwired. I have a very simplistic setup. Don’t have many things also using my internet or wired to my router. Hope this what u meant by physical setup. If not let me know I appreciate your help so far as well!!
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 26, 2020 Administrators Share Posted April 26, 2020 Yes that's great thank you. So the modem doesn't have any wifi at all? Follow this guide while downloading heavily and change your Anti-Bufferbloat percentage until you find what lowers the ping the most/keeps it as stable as possible: http://support.netduma.com/en/support/solutions/articles/16000074717-how-to-test-your-internet-ping

I pinged the server and see ther is 25 hops which looks strange but not sure if it is. Though having many hops I read decreases latency. Could this be the problem. If so can’t it get decreased in any way? I also tried doing a regular search like google.com. My ping doesn’t normalize much even adjusting the buffer. Is my laptop supposed to be wired, through the WiFi or doesn’t matter when pingplotting?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 28, 2020 Administrators Share Posted April 28, 2020 The only way around that would be to contact your ISP and see if they're able to adjust your routing but this is unlikely. Definitely do it via ethernet to rule out any wifi inconsistencies.
