Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 25, 2020 Administrators Share Posted April 25, 2020 That far back it was due to hardware limitations on our R1. We know it is still not the fastest on the Netgear routers either but it shouldn't be as slow as you've been experiencing. If your friend is using the VPN fine with the PS4 are there any differences between how you have the VPN setup? Is he using the R1?
Breebz
He is using the R1 router.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 25, 2020 Administrators Share Posted April 25, 2020 With DumaOS or on the original firmware? Is he using the same VPN provider as you? If he's on the original firmware could be because the features are made differently but if on DumaOS it doesn't make any sense as it is essentially the same firmware on both. In WAN Settings could you switch NAT to open please as well as disabling SIP ALG and unticking IGMP proxying, then try it.
Breebz
I tried your suggestions and that does not work. I also have tried PureVpn and IPvanish today and have the same issues with those VPN's. Speed is great on desktop app but as soon as I use it through the router I can't connect to any games because the speeds are so slow. He is on DumaOS and using PureVPN. He game his purevpn login to try on my router and it will not connect but he is not having any issue connecting and is getting good speeds. we are the same distance from the vpn server we are connecting so its not a geo issue either
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 25, 2020 Administrators Share Posted April 25, 2020 Even with the speeds you're getting there should be no issue with the game. Try this, delete the VPN rules, change the consoles to a PC device type in the device manager and then re-add them with the same option to the VPN. Is there a difference? If not switch to only VPN these services and add a port rule source 1-65535, dest 1-65535 TCP/UDP and see what happens.

Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 25, 2020 Administrators Share Posted April 25, 2020 Delete these that you added and then try the rest of the suggestions and see if it helps at all. On 4/21/2020 at 9:51 PM, Breebz said:
Breebz
I did all of the items you requested. I am now able to log in the game but vpn is not enabled even though it says connected in hybridvpn. i know its not working because when i use the web feature on ps4 to check my internet speed it is the exact same as when vpn is not enabled. i also am not matching people in the region selected on the vpn when before I always could. If I disable the port rules it does not allow me to connect to the game. When the port rules enable i can connect to game but not getting vpn protection

Are you referring to the name of the device? I dont understand what you are meaning
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 26, 2020 Administrators Share Posted April 26, 2020 When the VPN was enabled did you double check to see if the IP changed? Depending on what server you chose it may be that your ping would be too high and so would break their ping limit. Yes that is what I was referring to.
