Can't access DumaOS when modem is connected with XR500

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm able to access the dumaos website at 192.168.1.1 on my nighthawk xr500 - only when the modem isn't connected to the uplink port of the xr500.

Without the modem, the xr500 is my gateway as intended, at 192.168.1.1, and my pc has a corresponding ipaddress of 192.168.1.2.

When i browse to 192.168.1.1, I can access the DumaOS website to configure the router.

I have no internet connection during this time.

When I connect the cat5 cable from the modem to the xr500, i have to reboot the xr500 to get an internet connection, but at that point, the ipaddress configuration changes automatically.  My PC gets reconfigured with 192.168.100.1 as the gateway instead of 192.168.1.1 (it's like everything is passing through the xr500 without letting me communicate with it).

I can no longer access the DumaOS at the 192.168.1.1 address - no response.

And, at 192.168.100.1, I get the webpage for my modem's configuration page (to which I do not have credentials).

My PC is now configured with an ipaddress of 192.168.100.68.

It has an internet connection, where the physical topology is: PC <-wireless->  XR500  <-wired-> Modem

I'm sure that the wireless network that I'm connected to hasn't changed because it's using the ssid of my wireless network that I changed the xr500's name to.  The modem doesn't have an enabled wifi feature of its own.

The modem is:  Ubiquity Networks PowerBeam 5AC Gen2

How can I get this configured to allow me to access the xr500 DumaOS page while I have an internet connection.

Thank you in advance...

@Netduma Fraser how can I get the screenshot of the Internet Settings?  I cannot access the router when it's in this state.

Do you want me to factory reset it again and get to the state where I can access the DumaOS page *before* i connect the modem and power cycle (losing access to DumaOS)?

Thank you for taking a look!

You said you could access when it's not connected to the modem is that right? If so just unplug the ethernet, connect to it and screenshot the page. Otherwise if you do the factory reset it'll show everything as default and I'm wanting to know what it tries to apply.

Definitely user error, not your problem.

In trying to get the images, I found out what was wrong with my setup - I had the labeling on the AP and Model cables mixed up from the wall - so the modem was NOT plugged into the uplink port of the netduma :(  I noticed when trying to restore connectivity that when I unplugged what I though was the modem at the xr500, i still had internet service.  last time, I unplugged at the modem itself.

I think that the DHCP for the modem was taking priority over the xr500 dhcp service, allowing new devices to connect to the internet, but not through the uplink port of the xr500.

It is working now - so thank you for spending the time on it!  Apologies for the user error.
