OpenVPN connection still shows Verizon IP instead of home IP

I setup OpenVPN on my router and mobile phone.   I am able to connect via the OpenVPN mobile app.  When I google "MyIP", it shows a Verizon IP address not my home IP address.

I expected to see my home IP address, is that not the case?

I tried viewing "Device Manager" but I don't see any new devices.  Since its a VPN, would this show up at all?

How can I verify that my mobile device is indeed connected to my home router?

Are you referring to the VPN service in the Settings page or the VPN Hybrid?

Settings -> Advanced Settings -> VPN Service

Your public IP won't have changed. The easiest way to be to access the interface or if you have a server at home you want to access or something along those lines, whatever it is you want to use it for just see if it works

I thought one of the reasons to use a VPN is so others cannot easily see your public IP.

In that case you want a VPN Client, not VPN service. You should be using VPN Hybrid instead and will need to sign up with a VPN provider to use with the feature.
