YT_LowPingKing Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 I keep seeing intermittent Wifi drops on my phone. I'm on the latest firmware and have done a factory reset. Any suggestions?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted October 30, 2018 Administrators Posted October 30, 2018 Disable Smart Connect and connect the phone to the 2.4GHz manually, does that resolve the issue?
YT_LowPingKing Posted October 30, 2018 Author Posted October 30, 2018 That's the way I have my network. So unfortunately not
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted October 30, 2018 Administrators Posted October 30, 2018 Okay interesting, might be the DHCP lease. Can you give the phone a static IP address please and continue to monitor it
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted October 31, 2018 Administrators Posted October 31, 2018 How often is it occurring? Does it regain connection? Is there anything specific you do on the phone that prompts the disconnect? Do you have data enabled on phone as well, if so turn that off
YT_LowPingKing Posted October 31, 2018 Author Posted October 31, 2018 Every few hours. Sometimes it will regain connection. Others I have to manually reconnect. It seems to happen the most when streaming content such as YouTube or Radio stations. Data is disabled.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted October 31, 2018 Administrators Posted October 31, 2018 Hmm very odd, do you see anything in the logs on System Information when the drops happen?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted October 31, 2018 Administrators Posted October 31, 2018 It's weird that it's just happening on one phone. What phone is it? Is it quite old?
YT_LowPingKing Posted November 1, 2018 Author Posted November 1, 2018 I have a Moto G4 and the wife has an LG. She has disconnects sometimes as well.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 1, 2018 Administrators Posted November 1, 2018 The only other thing I can think of would be to use a wifi analyser and find the least congested channel in your area and change to that
xr500user Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 FYI You can also check your Wifi settings on the phones, in Settings, Wifi.. advanced options, show more.. At least that's where it is on Samsung phones .. One setting is "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" I have mine set to "Never" to save power, so I do see the Wifi wake up and pop-off, but I want it set that way. When phone goes to sleep, it disconnects from Wifi to save battery juice and just goes to LTE - once you wake the phone with code or fingerprint it will jump back on the Wifi (if available).. May not be your issue, but worth a check - you can also tell it to not really look for Wifi as much to save power
