Wired to modem 200Mb Wired to router 66.8

Recommended Posts

I have been using my XR500 for a while.  I recently got a 200Mb upgrade from my ISP 9Spectrum).  If I wire from any of my computers directly to their modem (Arris TM1602) OOKLA shows me right at 200Mb down.  If I wire to the XR500, I am shown 66.xx.

Latest firmware in use XR500 V2.3.2.32

I am NO expert with this router.  Would appreciate any help.  Thank you in advance.

edit:  Thought this screenshot might help.  It's WAY too confusing to me.

Edit: Just occurred to me. Of course with so many devices, I am going to lose bandwidth between devices. Right? DUH!  If correct, I admit I'm a network idiot.

I think the latest firmware has issues with Aris modems maybe as a few others using Aris have this issue it appears. I would contact Netgear over this issue.

Hi John - I suspect you still have some old settings for your previous speeds that are restricting it.

Go to QoS and Anti-Bufferbloat. Set the mode to never. Then click the burger menu in the top left of the panel. It will have your total speeds there. Change them to your new total speeds if you haven’t already.

Now try the test again. Does that work?

If not, could you follow this guide please: http://support.netduma.com/support/solutions/articles/16000076586-dumaos-optimal-settings-guide-speeds

Also - don’t worry about adding more devices. By default the router automatically gives bandwidth to any device that needs it. It doesn’t hold onto it. So you could have 50+ devices on your network and a single device could still get the full 200mb if no other devices needs it.

I do believe that solved the problem.  ISP provisions 200 down and 10 up.  After your GREAT instructions, I now get 186.6 and 7.8 respectively.  A GREAT improvement.  Cannot thank you enough.  Thank you for the device count lesson.  Great to know.  I sincerely thank you.

Thank you for that info.  Apparently I am not one of those affected.  Appreciate your input.
