Does Netduma work for EA games ?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I just got my Netduma this week and tried it on my PS4 with Star Wars Battlefront and Battlefield 1.

I live in Luxembourg and set the radius to cover Ireland, ping at 60ms max.

I see that the host is an EA server in Ireland as these games have dedicated EA servers. Games were running fine with no lag, but no clue if its because the EA servers were good for these games or if Netduma did anything to help...

Does my connection really benefit with Netduma if EA games always connect to dedicated servers in Ireland ?

Does Netduma only improve games that are client hosted and if so, is this only CoD / Destiny games on PS4 ?

Just want to make sure I'll have some real use with this product Geofiltering stuff... I plan on getting SWBF2 for sure, but maybe not Destiny 2.

Thanks!

Hey, welcome to the forum!

I don't know specifically about Battlefront but with Battlefield 1 you're able to select your own servers so you don't specifically need to use the Geo-filter. I think you are correct in that Ireland may be the only server in that region.

Don't forget as you are using congestion control you are still benefiting from the Netduma even if you're not specifically using the Geo-filter.

Both those games you mentioned use servers as well. Games that only have 1 server per region or allow you to select the server/region you don't need to use the Geo-filter.

We'll be testing both those games when they are out.

Ok so basically Netduma is useless for games on PS4 that are hosted on the publisher's servers ?

The congestion tool I don't really need as I have no other devices streaming or downloading stuff...

Do you know for which PS4 games Netduma would be useful in the future ?

Thanks

No, only when you're able to manually yourself select the region or server on the game itself it is not as useful. Most games these days do use servers but can still benefit from the Geo-filter.

I would still recommend enabling it as even background updates on a phone/web browsing could cause spikes. As you don't need much bandwidth when gaming there is no reason not to use congestion control.

It's impossible to say without testing the games first as it depends on how they do matchmaking.
