omega4
Here's a simple guide to having a Rainbow 6 Siege (PS4) NAT Type Open with the Netduma R1 Router (the greatest gaming router in the world!) if you're anal like me and nervous about using UPnP. 1. Create a static IP address for your PS4. You will need to do this in your PS4 first AND then in your Netduma router's GUI. There are plenty of tutorials which explain how to create a static IP address in the PS4. For the Netduma R1 Router, go to Settings/DHCP Lease in the Netduma router's GUI, then find the Playstation 4 device and click the "Reserved" box; for the Host number, type in the last 3 digits of the static IP address that you created in the PS4. 2. Port forwarding with the Netduma R1 Router: Go to Settings/Port Forwarding in the Netduma router's GUI. There, you'll create the following Port Forwarding rules for both the game AND the Playstation Network: Ports used by Rainbow 6 Siege: UDP: 3658, 6115 Ports used by Playstation Network: TCP: 3478, 3479, 3480 UDP: 3478, 3479 For example, Rule Name = R6S; Start Port = End Port = 3658; Protocol = UDP; IP Address = The last 3 digits of your PS4's static IP address. Then simply repeat the process for the other port numbers (e.g. 6115). 3. The last step is the most important one but the easiest to overlook (it stumped me until I figured it out). You MUST turn off (uncheck) Strict Mode in the Geofilter while actually leaving the Geofilter enabled. Go to Host Filtering in the Netduma router's GUI and uncheck Strict Mode in the Geofilter section. This is important as Rainbox 6 Siege uses dedicated servers. If Strict Mode is disabled, then you will be able to connect to dedicated servers which are outside of the range of your GeoFilter (which you can leave On). You will only be able to connect to dedicated servers which are outside of the range of your GeoFilter. Player to Player hosts (P2P) will still be blocked as normal. 4. Start (or restart) the Rainbow 6 Siege game (PS4). Check the NAT Type and it will say "Open". Hope this helps other gamers enjoy playing Rainbow 6 Siege game (PS4) with the Netduma R1 Router (the greatest gaming router in the world!)! Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 20, 2016 Administrators Share Posted December 20, 2016 Great tutorial, thanks for putting it together! You should be fine to have strict mode on though as long as you have dedicated servers within your radius.

Most of us may not be lucky enough to have a dedicated server within our radius so I figured it's easier for many to simply leave Strict Mode off.
