Multiple issues with brand new NetDuma R1

Recommended Posts

Hi Netduma support,

Just bought myself a brand new netduma, but I'm seeing some pretty strange issues which prevent me from using it at all. I have been a network engineer then software engineer working on carrier grade NAT for the past 10 years, so I would like to think I know what I'm doing and this is not a PEBKAC, but... Anyway here goes:

1) DHCP on ports 2 to 5 simply does not work, I get no answer. The link works since I'm seeing ipv6 neighbor solicitation and all, it simply refuses to answer (it did on extremely rare occasions). Here's what a sniffer trace looks like (I have the full file available for you if you can give me an email address, forum won't let me upload a pcap), for good measures I did a factory reset through the GUI then reset the router:

[root@localhost ~]# tcpdump -i eth0

That was the router starting, link seems good, I'm starting my DHCP client now (ISC dhcp client on linux)

There's just nothing coming from the duma. At router startup the DHCP request coming from the duma itself seems weird, not sure if you would expect that.

My firmware version is 1.03.6h and it should be noted I had to do a hard factory reset through the button at the back (I had disabled the wifi, as I have an access point, and it stopped answering on the RJ45 ports after a bit of time).

The wifi does work, I can access the GUI from there. However, similar to what I observe on port 2 to 5, the DHCP client on port 1 is unable to pull an address from the ISP router (I know I should use DMZ, I will do that once it's all working). It sends discovers but ignore any offer that is coming back. Again it worked on a couple rare occasions, but just for a couple minutes.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Hey, welcome to the forum!

It sounds as though you may have a faulty router would be best to have it back so we can test it. I assume you've tried the usual troubleshooting methods? Replace cables, reboot the router etc? Please email [email protected] and we can sort out a replacement for you.
