Nice video. I'd say BO3 is a good step forward but it's not, in my mind, a COD title so much as Vahn's tribute to Destiny; he's made it clear that he's a fan and some specialist abilities are based off things in Destiny. MW2 was the last one I truly sunk into and although I have a full time job and am not able to play as much I find it fun and engaging unlike BO1-AW. MW3 was ok until they tweaked it too much and ruined it along with the decreasing quality of DLC maps.

In terms of the DLC weapons/COD points, this was all predicted by Micheal Pachter in the MW2 days, he said that map packs were just the beginning and then AW hit with supply drops. Pachter was a financial analyst of sorts specialising in gaming companies, he was a regular guest on gametrailers and for a while had his own show on there.

I personally thought BO1 was a great title minus second chance mw3 wasn't great but I dominated on it easily just thought it was ridiculous that players were allow to get stealth bombers etc for playing poor

I thought the streak system where you could get extra perks was a great addition it's just a shame the game went on a downhill trajectory so soon after release, it was the same with BO2 for me. The game had great connections for about a week until they were tweaked. Sadly no Netduma back then to help.

After playing Titanfall it's clear to me that all the people with their heads screwed on went to Respawn. Titanfall could have been great if it wasn't limited to Microsoft consoles and had a bit more content but the core mechanics and ideas were there and they were solid. The only way IW can win is by making a classic style COD but the market is all about futuristic settings now despite the communities of both COD and BF for current and WW2 settings again.

Well i know battlefield is going back to the classic war stuff so will go respond?? As for respawn they pretty much wrecked cod indirectly lol

Congrats, and Good video, mate :)

I think everybody... Even if you like BO3... Knows the mDLC is getting out of hand. In ALL games, unfortunately.

CoD has officially (unofficially) become P2W even if only a handful of people are lucky enough to win the RNG lottery.

The worst part is this is considered legalized gambling (in the states) for underage youth. Kids can't officially gamble on a e-Slot machine site, but put this same RNG system into a game where the prizes are weapons and other content, and it's considered legal. The side-effect of this is a lot of kids growing up, now, consider "gambling" a fair practice in terms of gaining an advantage over somebody. I grew up with games being shipped 100% complete and we played with what was given to us, good or bad. Those days are long gone and it's a shame, IMO because the meaning of "fair play" doesn't exist anymore since it's been replaced with the Dopamine rush of beating the odds... That they pay for with real money :(

I couldn't agree with you more if I tried mate I stopped playing Fifa because of me getting a little addicted to buy points to getting Players of the year then I sat down and thought if I have to do that why the hell is the game even worth my time I really share your believe in the fact that children are being exposed to gambling far to young but that said they shouldn't even be playing such titles as call of duty so the responsibility lies in more then just the developers hands I was lucky enough to be refunded all the money I spent on Fifa I won't go into too much detail about that but I have been clean ever since LMAO

I agree with both of you, I want to add this - where the hell are the parents!  We constantly want the government to step in and protect us from every eventual problem but somewhere along the line we have to follow the YARFI formula - "You Are Responsible For Yourself" and this includes parents being responsible for their kids; what they do, how they behave and what they are exposed to! Period, the end!

Over the DXP weekend I had several occasions to listen to young and I mean 10 to 14 year olds using language that would have made my "Drill Sargent" blush.  More than once one of these little darlings used the "N" word in a disparaging way = there is no good or proper way to use it!  I am a WASP but I was deeply offended.  Don't these kids parents hear their kids ranting while playing - or are the kids just emulating their parents - some role model.

As to the gambling issue I don't agree that it qualifies since no one needs to spend money but they choose to do so.  How does a kid get his parents credit card in the first place, and as one kid is reported to have done, run up an $8,000 charge - apparently Microsoft forgave the charges, I suspect not out of their "largess" but rather to avoid the backlash if they didn't.

As far as I am concerned these games have really lost sight of the what the community wants and expects and are simply focused on what all most all American (and I include Canadian) corporations do - make as much money for the shareholders as possible and "damn" the consumers!  They just "spin" the true facts to suit their end game - no pun intended!

I started playing FPS in 2002 on the PC when Battlefield 1942 came out the first several games were good and straight forward, grind it out warfare - that formula would still work if they would spend more effort developing better maps and game scenarios.  I actually wouldn't mind paying for DLC maps as they need to fund the extra work to create and fine tune them - if they were good maps, glitch free and added a new dimension to the gaming experience.  As for "paying" to access additional weapons this is totally wrong but won't change because like "sheep at the slaughter" the community continues to throw their good money away on this crap!

OK so I am having a "grumpy old man" day, but there you go!  I hope the next generation of developers is listening to the community and will offer us something that is a step-up - certainly the technology, skills and resources are there to do so!

Damn that felt good!

Get it off your chest my friend!!! But in all honesty there is nothing that you have said that isn't valid I agree with everything you've said kids playing these titles is one thing but being aloud to use foul language shouldn't be happening and as for developing better games they really need to see that investing in the games core things that make it function properly will only grown the community better

Funny how this turned from a congrats thread, to a "Back in my day..." thread - lol.

In all seriousness, gaming has changed a lot for a majority of us who grew up along side the games industry, and... Not for the better it seems?

We all accept gaming is a multibillion dollar business and corporations are beholden to stock holders and investors. However, as expressed above, these corporations (Publishes and devs) main goal is now to "sell, sell, sell!" instead of release a product that can stand on its own in terms of value and technical prowess.

Activision has billions to spend on improving their dedicated server architecture (hardware, tick rate, bandwidth), but they won't because they know it's cheaper to deliver a subpar online experience (P2P) as long as people are playing... Mostly, young people who may not know they should be getting something better for their, or their parents hard earned dollar. Also, the societal impact we wrote about earlier is the more disturbing one, IMO because a lot of kids take what they experience in video games and expect it to apply to the real world e.g. having an advantage over somebody isn't due to hard work, it's a God-given right because RNG teaches that for minimal effort they can "achieve" something, no matter how shallow it is. Helicopter parents and the participation trophy mentality aren't helping, but that's a whole other can of worms.

The sad thing about P2W is it's a self-perpetuating cycle. People spend money for a competitive advantage and those who normally would not are forced to spend money to compete with those that do to even the playing field. So, it's not just something players can ignore IF they want to stay "competitive". FIFA and CoD are prime examples where RNG and P2W have negatively effected the overall gaming experience for everybody versus a game like CSGO where ALL mDLC is purely cosmetic e.g. weapon skins.

CoD 2016 by IW is going to have P2W crap.

Mark my words.

I don't care how good, or bad the game is. This garbage is here to say, unfortunately and at this point this may be my last CoD simply because I can find better P2W games (or games that aren't P2W) that do what CoD does only 10x better.

To end on a positive note, I've been playing the recent indie games hits like "Firewatch", "The Witness" and "Layers of Fear". These may be SP games, but they also don't cost full-retail price AND they offer a polished and COMPLETE gaming experience even if it is a relatively short one (4-5 hours). The fact we collectively take DLC and P2W as standard now is disturbing when you compare it to indie games where the main focus is presenting a focused gaming experience and not a marketing platform for digital junk food.
