BRING BACK SHARING BANDWIDTH TURN OFF OPTION PLEASE!
D3mon1c replied to iOrcus's topic in Netduma R3 Support
Honestly if this feature gets added back in Ill be over the MOON about it too because I miss this about the R1/XR1K which is why I didn't mind my devices being setup into it but with it gone I got a setup where like all extra devices are linked into my other routers while I have only like my cell & Xbox Series S into my R3 with whatever bandwidth I have it set on in the meantime EVEN DOE im aware the R3 is updated & etc to I guess better handle things even w/o that feature available. -
Eliminating bufferbloat has changed gaming for me
D3mon1c replied to Megatf's topic in Netduma R3 Support
I've honestly nvr done it via speedtest I've just done it on the R3 only & after that I switched Ping optimizer to expert & did the test & it legit said the best ping was 100/100 for me which I already suspected as such because back then b4 I even had the netduma I think I used to play with a party & I had the most bandwidth than the rest so by that standard I figured it was good for me to host of course but I always complained about like lag & etc while they typically did better than me because lag compensation/ping is kind to those who doesn't have a CRAZY amount of bandwidth to work with compared to the ones that have ALOT of it. -

I mean YEAH you could do that but the issue in the end would still be the bufferbloat so you'd have to use ping optimizer with whatever bandwidth you have set either way along with device reservation then I guess you'd be good on that front. BUT in my case I hae multiple routers so I can afford to just lower my bandwidth when I'm gaming because I can just hook onto the other routers if I need bandwidth because I have 2 routers linked into my ISP router. Naturally doe as many ppl say over/over you don't need alot of bandwidth for gaming so if you have a setup like mine where you can afford to lower your bandwidth (Not thru your internet service provider of course because that would just be CRAZY) in the CC settings then do so & gaming will be alot better for you compared to just running some big #s overall when it comes to gaming... Only time I honestly turn up my bandwidth is when my Xbox is downloading or if I just wanna use my R3 when my xbox is off with my laptop/other devices really. -

O sorry I 4got to mention since I put it so low I don't really throttle so naturally it'll be 70/70 but if I remember to switch it Ill just have it at 100/100 -

20 down 2 up as mentioned b4 but I have better gaming in my opinion doing between 5-20 down/1-2 up compared to just using all my bandwidth which is 800 down 20 up -

Wouldn't the ez way to go about buffer bloat would be to adjust your bandwidth speed to a bit above the bare minimum like 20 down 2 up for example or something along those lines & get the bufferbloat thats perfect for your connection? -
So even with Geo-Filtering it doesn't like make the lag that comes with vpn better?
-
O ok... So not much to do about it entirely then since its thru a browser?
-
So I have to do this in the browser im using?
-
So if I switch to something thats further off 4rm where Im at I'll get the lag for switching/in game lag distance between me & that specific area I connected to as well on top of it? It doesn't bridge the game & like try to give like 0 lag like I initially thought b4?
-
Ok so im still SOMEWHAT lost about how VPN works entirely even though I've looked it up awhile back. So Im aware it can hide your IP address/your able to use the internet I guess w/o your IP provider I guess knowing what you do but is that all? Like apart of me is curious about the gaming aspect of it like if I hid my IP (Or whatever idk the correct terms here since I've nvr had the service b4) in Texas & I connected to a Texas server in a game would I have like 0 lag doing that or would I have the same lag from where I live at to Texas on the matter?

Fmovies domain names but I BELIEVE the downloads are "ok" if I don't do so much but when I try to do multiple at a time & its like... I guess 1080p that im trying to download it'll go for a min then like shutdown entirely besides either 1 it'll continue going till its finished OR just cancel em all & say an error basically.
-
Looked it up all I found was something about UTP ethernet cables.
-
Upnp? Not familiar with what uTP is.
-
O I forgot to mention I had my bandwidth set to 200 down/2 up when this was happening btw
-
Is the R3 bad at downloading in general? Because I was trying to download movies (horror movies) to watch at their best quality when I have free time & its just not really consistent about downloading entirely like it'll just get cut short for some reason or another but I don't have the same issues when I download off a different router entirely. Do I have to change some settings around on the R3 just to be able to download on a regular basis outside of my gaming console?
-
When I try it doesn't pull up the "Change primary profile" screen it doesn't pull up unless I click the dots on the top right area but even then when I try to pick the profile I want it doesnt switch to it at all but does just fine on the interface doing so on my laptop but just NOT on the duma app.

I don't have much choice because the wifi on the R3 doesn't have the best signal compared to the R1 or XR1000 so I have a different router newly bought for family devices while my stuff is hooked into R3's wifi because if I move 4rm my room to like my kitchen then the wifi gets pretty wonky that I naturally have to switch it to my hotspot when I go around my house then switch it back to the R3 when I'm back in my room.
-
I might've been wrong about the modem... I get it confused I 4get the difference between what is what but I bought 2... Ima say routers I think & they're both hooked into my ISP modem I believe? But yeah is it even possible to still get lag by those standards because I don't think I've ever gotten lag really probably because of the massive amount of bandwidth I have to work with but if the other router is using alot of bandwidth the perfect fix for lag would just be to throttle down my R3 & the other router not have access to all the bandwidth right?
-
So to sum up what you just said... Ina nutshell the optimizer COULD be better than what it currently is, I have so much bandwidth that streaming devices won't I guess make me lag in general I suppose & EVEN IF they're was a hardcore download in the background I believe the best counter to that would honestly be toning down my bandwidth overall to almost the bare minimum to counteract bad buffferbloat/lag (Personal thought on this matter I haven't exploited this & I also say this 4rm a multiple modem standpoint cause I have the R3 setup for myself & everyone else hooked onto a different modem) & if I wanna get a better reading on the Ping optimizer I should do it when most of the bandwidth is being used & not just some abysmal amount?
-
Every time I try to optimize my ping (I have it on expert btw instead of simple because I want my down/up adjusted the best it can go for) it keeps like leaving it on 100% for both instead of like adjusting it lower (Which I thought it would be doing) is it because I optimize my ping when theres no traffic with my bandwidth & I test it when Im like the only one using it? I guess what im asking is would it optimize it better IF there was heavy traffic going on during optimization? Also my bandwidth is 800 down 20 up but I naturally change it to lower when im about to game to like 20 down 2 up or whatever but right now I have it set for 200 down 5 up but its saying its perfect as is no customization which is kinda blowing my mind right now because I don't believe it.

Is there a new version out more recent than 4.0.41 or is that the latest one?
-
Ping Optimizer has encountered a problem. DumaOS is unable to complete the Ping Optimizer process due to external circumstances. This is what I get when I try to use ping optimizer & its been this way for quite some time now & I even factory reset to try to fix this but im still encountering this issue.

Uncaught SyntaxError: Invalid or unexpected token?

Whelp I guess it worked cause now I'm able to goto dashboard/network monitor & it doesn't give out errors like it did b4. -

Is there a way to figure out which XR1000 I have cause I noticed there's a 2nd version of the XR1K? Cause I just logged onto it (I let my son use this one while I use the R3 for when he games) & I'm having the same issue as b4 but im curious about which version I have of the XR so I can download the right firmware update because last time I downloaded the .72
