  1. Thanks, that's not what I wanted to hear but was what I was kinda expecting. Atleast my expectations will align with how games play. Atleast I know why every lobby plays completely different to the one before, so thanks
  2. Thats good to hear that you have determined the cause of the chat issue, im sure many people will be happy to hear that. Yes, that's best case scenario, tested at times of lowest usage rate for my area as per the providers CVC bandwidth utilisation graph. Peak usage only marginally increases both the packet lose percentage and the highest peak range for ping (ie the 40ms can go to 70ms)
  3. I guess I was hoping I found the smoking gun you needed to fix chat. I've been chasing this issue around in circles pretty much since this service was connected last December, ive changed providers thinking the issue could have been due to the ISP handled backhual and there connectivity, to a provider who has the greatest connectivity availible here and was disappointed to discover no change to the issue I wanted to address. But I wasn't expecting that my pings to overseas servers such as Asian servers and also US servers are 20-30ms lower then the old provider, which was a nice surprise. Sorry about blabbing on, I guess I'm looking for any info about HFC connections you might be able to share. As the cabling from my wall socket to the street, and then to the network infrastructure for my area is all brand new, new trenches were dug for it less then 2 years ago so its probably unlikely there a 'fault' that can be repaired. With HFC being a shared service so to speak, am I expecting something its just not able to deliver, ie achieving a steady ping with little to no jitter and no detectable packet loss. The lowest packet loss I've been able to record in ping plotter over a 10 minute period is about 3 %, and the average would be 5%. Thats on a idle connection and it doesn't seam to matter if I try to congest the line amount of packet loss is the same. Is a ping of 8ms that bounces to 40ms about half the time, with less then 5% packet loss, about as good as HFC gets? Am I being unreasonable expecting something much better then this? With no other choice now adsl has been switched off in my area, and so far not hearing anything encouraging from my ISP, im looking for guidance whether I should continue trying to resolve this or just give up. Anyone having good experience on HFC? If so where you from? Any Aussies with nbn HFC getting better service then I am?
  4. nah it fails even with respond to ping turned on, and the R1 rebooted. whats got me stumped is the low level packet loss im getting regardless of settings, device port and change of lan cables. nothing ive done has managed to change the fluctuating pings from 8ms up to around 40ms which happens on idle connection and when attempting to congest the line. same thing with the packet loss. ive tried isp support and no luck, but ive got another support request in with ping plotter logs so hopefully i can get it sorted. 2-5% packet lose is frustrating as hell, but im positive ive narrowed it down to the 'line' as i get the same results computer wired direct to modem, which i hadnt last time i spoke to them so they basically ignored me after the basic line test
  5. ok ill turn it on, just a fyi that was disabled following a hard reset as per the instructions above. yes i have respond to ping off. im guessing your asking coz turning it off broke icmp
  6. No, but i did change it to 5 app tries upon reboot. but so so far its been good. that screen i posted, which by default has 'port scan protection' disabled, is that the recommended setting? As per the attached pic, 25 servers failed to ping when trying the Coldwar Ping Heatmap As per the second pic, at https://ipv6-test.com/ which i ran a test from as my new ISP supports IPv6, i got the following result. 'Your router or firewall is filtering ICMPv6 messages sent to your computer. An IPv6 host that cannot receive ICMP messages may encounter problems like some web pages loading partially or not at all.' Just wondering if this could be why party chat might not be working. And word of caution, last week my activation account was 'hacked' Someone managed to log into my account and change the email address effectively locking me out of it, without even a email notice saying it had been done. just when i loaded up the game i got the message saying a activision account is needed to play online and asking me to create a account. im in the middle of the process which they say takes 10 days to recover the account so fingers crossed. ive not been able to find out how the data breach happened, but i assume it got to be something activision/ Call of Duty related as no other service i have was affected. So i recommended everyone to change their password to avoid suffering such a problem
  7. So i followed your advice and noticed the following as being enabled after logging back in after the hard reset
  8. @netduma Fraser ok thanks ill gave that a go, my HFC arris modem is fairly recent, i remember something about a chipset problem a few years back, any idea how to check?
  9. I've also changed isp's since I had posted last and now on a 250/25mbps plan. The extra bandwidth is nice but even tho this provider had significantly better POI's & POP'S then my previous ISP and there recommended by many sources as the best provider for gamers and others wanting lowest latency possible, ive found that rather then the download bandwidth availible during peak times be much lower then its regular speed, as on my previous isp, it actually is the upload that takes a huge hit sometimes 50% lower while the download generally slightly exceeds the 250mbps my connection Is configured for. This has required me to set the duma to NOT share excess and ive had to assign my xbox only 2mbps upload in order to play on a stable ping. Which I suspect isn't the ideal situation, any suggestions would be welcome
  10. Hi, sorry for such a delay in posting a reply, umm yes I usually have it open on a second monitor for the first game or 2, and then close the browser and only open it again and log in when im not happy with the connection to check whether im on a local server or not, as I filtering servers didn't seam to improve anything and seriously delayed match making and I also wanted to eliminate the filtering as the cause to somewhat frequent disconnects from the server in cold war that would happen during every other game I played.
  11. now? yes after redoing the upgrade, yes just settings keeps crashing. so no traffic is passing on my xbox while in game and thats why its showing offline. i took that screen shot after noticing that happen in game several times, i respawned and took it. do you mean speedtest on the xbox? and super impressed by the weekend reply's, wasn't expecting that, thumbs up.
  12. those strange IPs? no have yet to see them. im connected by cable to xbox. ill attach the log if there interested, it still showing apps failing and even an entry saying its giving up on trying to restart them. my time zone is correctly set. ill try that on the dashboard. thanks for helping so far, to everyone involved. log-1618614722018 17.4.21.txt
  13. this is while im playing an online game on the xbox COD MP
  14. still getting this message too
  15. i took a screenshot of the Wan settings i forgot about so here it is, plus these other 2 show another issue ive now discovered is that even though ive given my xbox a static address the netduma in the upnp section is showing it as the xbox and shortly into the game when i check to see what port in game is shown it shows the device as deleted. this coincides with a noticeable difference in gun fights in that game, as in i was getting the expected hit detection and after a few minutes in the game it completely reversed to as it took multiple shots before any register even a guy laying on the ground facing the other way it too 5 bullets before they started to register.
  16. so we're worried about what I had feared about before posting is actually a possibility. sure i can try that for you, I live alone so I have only 1 pc, but if i just need to swap the Ethernet cable to check the logs that's fine I haven't been using the ISP supplied router as its pretty much junk and running locked down firmware with many features unable to changed, but I can use it or several others i have lying around that were kept as back ups just in case as i got caught out by a failed modem once before. I have a Arris model CM8200B P2, It is the modem which connects to the aussie NBN and needs to be connected to a router, and as soon as i realized i didn't need to connect to the ISP supplied router and then too the Netduma i removed it immediately, it would overheat (it being the start of the aussie summer when i was connected) and need to be restarted every day to maintain a connection to the internet. The ISP supplied router is a Belong 4353 i believe its a sagecom device rebranded for the ISP as it came with a sagecom power supply. In-between my last message and now i have tried doing the duma os beta file again, and completed the whole recommended update procedure again as the netduma became unusable due to instability and most pages couldn't be opened to check or set settings. error messages about rraps not loading yet and to wait amount or just constant blank widgets that look like there trying to refresh. i did however make 1 change to that procedure and i factory reset the R1 prior to doing the update (or reapply the latest firmware as in my case) then updated the firmware, and then factory reset it again before continuing the set up. all using incognito Chrome web browser. I noticed that the WAN settings page this time was different in the enabled options then it was last time as everything was enabled except port scan protection. im sure thats not how it was the first time i updated it, as i remember reading a forum post by one of your team about keeping allow access to netduma staff disabled unless needed as well as allow ping, and im sure i had checked for that setup same as i did this time so it stuck out. I now only have Port scan protection and Syn Flood protection enabled Also i increased the amount of times the RRaps are attempted to be started in a hope things will be less likely to not be usable and have noticed some improvement but not perfect, still fails to load some items when opening tabs but no failures recorded in the logs. the power supply supplied i noticed looked lose so when i unplugged the country adapter supplied and went to connect it again it no longer held on well at all, and without some assistance wouldn't remain attached for very long at all, luckily my supply of no longer needed ISP supplied gear had a correct fitting power supply with identical specs, that no longer requires use of the adapter. this shouldn't be an issue should it?
  17. no, same isp and modem, 1 PC, 1 Xbox series X, 1 galaxy phone, 1 PC. basically everything was perfect connection wise but i couldn't continue on the previous beta firmware due to the party chat issue, so reluctantly downgraded to non dumaOS, and connections on that was very hit or miss it was one of those really wish i hadn't done that scenario now. However the most recent firmware prior to the current 1 i had only used a few times over a few gaming sessions for less then a week, and cant speak to usability or crashing in that time because i was excited to game after getting the immediate A+ benchmark report and didnt bother with changing any other settings. i spent maybe a few minutes opening each page once to look. i didn't notice the crashed app logs when when i found those couple issues i first reported on this firmware and it was only however the short amount of displayed log before expiring from the displayed log in browser which is why i download the notes version incase that offers you any way to assist you. The rapp and/or web browser instability issue was usually only an issue on ant version of the firmware v1, v2 or v3 was only after what i considered somewhat identifiable causes such as having the geofilter page left open in browser for excessive time periods or if the device hadn't been restarted for long periods of time. i long ago needed to get into the habit of disconnection the power lead for a minute before reconnecting it on my cable modem router immediately prior to ALL online gaming sessions due to it being suggested by the isp following a tech support issue, and that's something i have somewhat continued two decades now and used less now but i would try to restart the R1 using the browser button when having issues or when i thought it necessary.
  18. i confirm that that this exactly my experience of party chat on r1
  19. no DMZ, and default wan settings as per the auto configure when promoted 'do you want to auto configure based on inputted bandwidth values on set up. following that post, i have tired various setting changes in Wan and elsewhere, and currently have all check boxes unticked, due to the firmware upgrade breaking my connection (in game experience, im referring too) and have been able to get cod playable and is everything but enjoyable, despite the previous beta version (3.0.x) which had been providing consistently and reliably, the best quality connection in game and it didnt need any setting changes after configuring the the Qos speeds and 70/70 slider. no geo filter or hyperlane necessary. please see attached log, as it has the following errors regarding crashing. this is aftee every reboot, it also happens after disconnecting from power and waiting more then 10 minutes before repowering the R1, and then after another 15-20 minutes rebooting it again and waiting atleast 10 minutes before logging into the r1. this is also experienced in trying to access certain config pages in the R1 OS such as device manager, and has happened on QOS and geofilter but most often its the other various features with report Rapp unable to load, please wait longer before trying to use rapp Wed Apr 14 10:01:42 2021 user.emerg syslog: Instance ndhttpd::instance1 s in a crash loop 6 crashes, 0 seconds since last crash also log-1618367585620.txt
  20. i have installed the latest firmware, used chrome incognito mode and factory reset after upgrade. Im getting some unexpected occurrences in the logs, with the below items being the strangest. and googling the ip adresses indicated thousands of reports of malisious activities being engaged by these IPs. example message below. Is this anything to be worries about This IP address has been reported a total of 3,499 times from 150 distinct sources. 74.120.14.40 was first reported on December 22nd 2020, and the most recent report was 1 hour ago We have received reports of abusive activity from this IP address within the last week. 21. The only thing that matters on this topic is when the known list of devices that dont work is 2 pages long and the known working devices is only as handful, the blame belongs with netduma, regardless of alledged issues in chipset firmware, those incompatible devices work perfected fine with millions of products for millions of worldwide users.
  22. im not trying to offend anyone but this is appalling, The amount of incompatible modems, or devices which causes the netduma to not work optimally coming from such a broad range of different manufacturers and most being the most widely used modems in the world should be ringing alarm bells in the netduma offices about their poor technical work which needs immediate action, and whats worse is that it appears that at from your public views on the matter that the netduma team is trying to pass the buck and blaming everyone else. The modems and devices out there which work perfectly fine with every other device imaginable ranging from cheap crap to the most expensive devices that have the ability to be networked may not all have the best examples of text code as firmware but they work seemingly fine with everything else, so please explain why your device and your work isnt to blame, you cant because its your job to make your device work with the modems your customers are likely to be using. All the praise you have received for your so called extraordinary device seams to have given you egos the size of skyscrapers and you have dropped the ball massively. not to mention all the people who have spent hundreds of hours troubleshooting and urging their isp to fix problems you insisted has to be issues with there line, and all the money replacing cables and devices at home trying to eliminate issues at home, in some cases wasting thousands of dollars when there wasn't anything wrong with their isp, their line or anything part of there home network. A hard look at yourself is needed and all your big noting yourself about being the only router to beat lag, claiming to be the best in the world at what you do, claiming to write the best QoS code ever written ect ect is a joke, if any of it is actually true, some long hours and late nights are needed to resolve the problems with you code. wake up to yourself, and take responsibility for your own mess. How about making a rock solid product instead of doing everything half arsed and adding more and more features to something so very broken. That's product development 101 right there. Im hoping you prove to be not another one off these fad companies, developing and selling something that cant live up to the advertised claims and when all the problems no longer can be explained away and your customers realize your product hasn't lived up to expectations and get sick of the excuses and 3 years of the same thing, that close shop never to be heard again.
