  1. I made an interesting discovery this past week regarding netduma routers (and possibly, this might apply to all other brands). If your ISP blocks priority tagging when setting up VLAN/Bridge mode on your 3rd party router, you might not be able to take advantage of most of the features your "gaming" router offers. (e.g. traffic prioritization, QOS/congestion control, etc). I have a netduma R3 and the XR1000 and whenever I play COD, there was always this consistent lag/ping spike I couldn't place my hands on. I am on a 500mbps up down FTTH connection and have changed ISPs and packages several times all because of this undescribable lag/ping spikes when gaming. Finally, i decided to setup my XR1000 using my PPPOE credentials and under the vlan/bridge setting, I set the vlan tag provided by my ISP. But the setting that changed everything for me was the vlan priority setting (values ranging from 0-7). I think most ISPs set the value as 0 (best effort) by default which is not the best for gaming. If you want to experience less lag, I'll suggest to use values 6 or 7 (which are the most ideal for low latency gaming). Unfortunately, this setting is not available on the R3 as far as I know. A work around for that might be to disable DP inspection, but, you get to lose all the features that smart boost has to offer. That's why I'm sticking with the XR1000 for now pending when features like nat filtering, vlan priority tagging is available on the R3.
