A static IP doesn't change, if you rebooted the modem and you got a different IP it wouldn't be static, it would be dynamic which is what I believe VM uses. In which case you're good, the leaked IP can no longer be used against you.
The router doesn't change your IP, if you want to protect your IP address and have another then you'll have to use the VPN.
