@Netduma Fraser Please add me to the Beta Access also. Thank you.

@Samin It looks like you setup the port everything on the Sky modem router is this correct? I believe what @Netduma Fraser was saying was to put the XR500 in DMZ on the Sky modem and then configure the XR500. You should turn off UDnP on the Sky Modem and then in the XR500 Setup your Playstation with a static ip address and port forward the above ports. I do not know anything about the Sky setup. I will let Fraser take it from here.

You can either turn on UPnP or port forward to get NAT type Open on COD. I would do one or the other not both. Some people do not like UPnP since it could be a security risk.
Playstation ports to open for port forwarding are:
TCP 1935
TCP UDP 3074
TCP UDP 3478-3480

Have you also tried replacing your sons ethernet cable or switching ports? Just a idea. Also when you get a chance run a speed test on both PS4's and check the MW3 network info to see if you are both open NAT. In a perfect work you would both be NAT type 2 on the PS4 and Open NAT on the game.

@Fuzy I do not care one way or the other. Mine has been disabled for months. I have no plans of enabling it in the near future.

@Lyzarc When you say hardwired are you both hardwired into the back of the router or by chance are you using a WiFi adaptor to hardware one of the consoles? I ask this because I have a friend that has the same issue with is son. His son is hardwired directly to the back of the router and he is hardwired to the back of a wifi adaptor that is basically a wifi device plugged into the wall. His sons ping is great and his is all over the map. Also are you both NAT type 2 on the PS4 when you run a connection test? When you login to MW3 and go to the options and Networks and settings click network info and what is the NAT type for you and your son?

You can do a Factory Reset. Get a paper clip and stick it in the whole on the back of the device. Here is what I found on a google search from NetDuma. I have done so many of these now I can setup the database in my sleep.
- Use the paper-clip to hold the reset pin on the back of the router for at least thirty seconds
- After thirty seconds, release the paper-clip
- Leave the router for 5 minutes
- Access the interface once again and complete the initial setup.

I think COD is having server issues. I have been experiencing packet loss for about the last hour.

Have you tried to clear the cache on Chrome or whatever you are using.

@Netduma Fraser Thank you for the quick response. I figured you all were already aware of it. I look forward to the new update.

I have been playing around with different speeds to see what my R3 likes best for gaming. Just recently my Download and Upload speeds have been all over the place.
I have 1gig down and 40 up. Right now I have the speed set to 150 down and 40 up. CC set to 50% down and 100% up. When I run a test on waveform I get the correct numbers but after a couple of hours of the R3 being up and running without a reboot my speeds drop like crazy. Download is 16 Mbps and upload is 15 Mbps. Now if I reboot the R3 it goes back to normal and then a couple hours later everything drops. It does not matter what speeds I have set in the Speedtest or CC settings I use it always happens. Is anyone else experiencing this also. Its not the end of the world just kind of strange.
Here is how I have the router setup:
Ipv6 Wan & Lan OFF
Steady Ping OFF
UPnP OFF
Port Forward setup for PS5
PS5 Static IP
SMartBoost Active gaming and PS5
GEO Filter
GEO latency ON and Strict Mode ON
-
I found that if I had steady ping on it would show the tick rate and once I turned it off it would not show it anymore. I do not know if that is the way it is supposed to be.
-
Us the simple mode for Geo Filter not custom. I went from not knowing what server I would be thrown into to 99% of the time the server closest to me with simple. Every once in a while I get a random server not with in my server.

Bufferbloat is A+
Everytime I go on to game I always do a bufferbloat test on waveform and adjust accordingly.
Its annoying that its just not showing anything on the geofilter less the demonware connection, which as you know is the poopy system that finds servers for you so you can have the sweatiest of games
One thing I would do is turn off Steady Ping for now. WIth 1gig it might make your game feel a bit laggy. Since it is adding latency to stabilize your connection. I have had my best game with it off. I actually now close my Dumas app instead of leaving it up. Unless I get a latency that is way out there I do not open it anymore. I read in the forums that it could cause issues with your gaming by having the page open. probably just a myth.
-
What does your bufferbloat test look like?
-
70/70 is just a starting point. I am at 95/95. I have even been 89/100. I reboot my router multiple times a day if I am working from home. With my idle ping being so bad and no fiber on the horizon. I have to run waveform daily or multiple times a day if gaming to make sure my CC is solid. It's a nightmare but it far better then getting insta killed by someone in ranked.

It's on.
It might not make a difference but turn off steady ping and only use the simple Geo Filter for now.
-
Is steady ping on or off and are you using the simple or custom filter on the Geo Filter?

Congestion control just doesn’t work.. and I’ve been trying to say that.. something is wrong..
ive said this before, I’ve tried many different percentages on CC and nothing, I mean nothing works.. 50/50, 60/60, 70/70, 80/80, 90/90 and 100/100.. nothing works..
at this point I give up..
Are you lowering your speeds in the advanced speed test? I have spectrum and your ping plotter test look as bad as mine. I have 1 gig down and 40 up. I had to lower it to 300 down and 40 up and then set up CC.

Ok, a week later I've done the following to try to eliminate my sudden bufferbloat and high active ping..
-Bought a 3rd party modem for Xfinity, I bought the Coda cable modem (https://www.amazon.com/Hitron-Approved-Comcast-Spectrum-Ethernet/dp/B0981553MT)
-Bought another Gaming router with adaptive QOS( Asus RT-AX82U https://www.asus.com/us/networking-iot-servers/wifi-routers/asus-gaming-routers/rt-ax82u/)
(^^ I have the R3 connected to these two as well)I've tried many different methods to get my bufferbloat down and nothing is fixing it..
when I first got the R3, everything was great and smooth.. but not anymore..
any tips?!
I can only get a A or an A+ score if I lower my network speeds down to 200mbps on the duma.. I have 1200mbps Down and 40mbps Up..
its odd that the only thing that will fix it is by lowering the network speeds on the R3Tested with QOS On and Off and zero luck
Posted two pictures Below with my results..
the first month with the R3, i was able to use 800ish mbps without this issue..
any help with be great! @Netduma FraserYou seem to be chasing something that might not be logical with Cable internet. I have been fighting this battle for years. Xfinity/ Spectrum they don't care about your gaming experience. Cable internet love lag and jitter the ISP builds these hubs in your area and hardly ever upgrades them. In a perfect world we would have download and upload speed close in comparison with cable not 1000 down and 50 up they would be more like 1000 down and 500up ( I would love just 100 upload with my gig). Most gaming routers are just away for companies to make more money. I have been through way too many to count. The R3 is the first one that actually allows you to setup a GEO location to game on. My COD games latency before the R# were 50+ ping every game since they throw you all over the world. Since they have been 19 to 30 ping. Now to say the R3 is perfect the answer is no not yet. It needs some love and I feel they are trying to get there. Running 2 gaming routers is redundant. If you want to improve your WiFI go get a mesh unit and connect the R3 to that or the mesh unit to the R3. IF you really want to improve your overall network then you need to shell out some cash and build a home network from the ground up (Unifi, Aruba, Ect) I bought a UDM SE from Unifi and have never looked back. ( I also have very limited knowledge when it comes to networking youtube is your best friend) Sorry for the long reply but I feel your pain.
When it comes to your download and upload speed throw it out the window for gaming. Lowering your speed to get a A+ Bufferbloat is what needs to happen. IF you are going to be mad be mad at your ISP. They throttle and play with your connection all day long. I have a gig down and 40 up. (Can't wait for fiber in my area). I have my speeds at 300 and 40 since my bufferbloat on the upload is always great. From there I adjust the Ping advance settings to dial in the bufferbloat and jitter. Unfortunately I have to adjust this all the time depending on the time of day. A little tweak here and there to improve hit reg is key for me. WHen you run the bufferbloat test make sure you uncheck the lat slider on the Ping advance settings. I have done the following to try and make my experience the best it can be while the Dev's fix issues.
IPv6 WAN and LAN off
Steady Ping OFF
Geo - FIlter use Simple for now.
Turn off UPnP
Ad Blocker OFF
Port forward your gaming device to open ports ( if you do not know the ports to forward google it)
SMART BOOST - Device Only for now.
Below is what I look for in the Bufferbloat test. A+ and the lowest possible Max % and Jitter for Unload, Download and Upload. Everybody will be different with it comes to numbers when it comes to good scores.
I hope this helps. Do not be afraid to lower your speed and download and upload %. Cable internet is like a sickness and the only way to get better results is by tricking it. One day we will all have Fiber until then remember Cable Internet is like ED there are meds for it but first you have to put your ego to the side.
Sincerely your fellow cable internet suffer.
