XR1000 firware and duma os 3.3
Caution replied to AnarchyAli's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
defo not loosing power, when it does happen to me it looks like it crashed out then rebooted it self and then comes back a factory reset but as i have AP connected to it (by lan cable). i can still access the internet. sins owning this router it has done it 3 times in total. and as a backup file does not restore most of the settings i use i keep a spreadsheet with all the static ip address, mac addresses, AD blockers list and so on. takes me around an 1-2 hour to add everything back in. Also seem to be the same issue As another member saying here also around the 2 weeks mark the router reboot itself i put this down to running out of ram on it and it is freeing it up. Most the time i do not notice last restarted around 11 days ago and seem to restart early in the morning most of the time. The RAM right now shows as -1.8 to -2.1 so i am assuming in the next couple of day it will do the same thing and the router will reboot it self. -

i recall having issue where it seem to pick random devices to block items on. but after a reboot of the device it started to work again. i do know a wile back the Netdrum default Block list was missing on there server but it has sins been added back. this was fixed on October 16. what i cannot get working with it is to add a TXT file to it. it had to be a link to type in the address u want to block but this method is limmited to how many u can add. as it stop working after around 20 addresses. to note most of my devices have a static IP addresses (around 40 of my devices). as i have seen device having the same IP address of another old device but the router think it is the same device (say laptop showing as a iPhone) this is why i have given all my devices a static ip address and use random ones for guest devices. -

My Add blocker on my XR1000 seem working. i do run some other add blockers tho. I also use a DNS - NextDNS that has even more add blockers added but it only block around 10-15% -

hope this fixes the random factory reset the router seems to do it self every 4-5months sins owning it. also hope it is less ram hungry and stop filling it up within days. I do run the router to the max with add blockers, Dynamic DNS, 3xAP -
with connections of your 3 cables looks to be correct. modem to Router are in the right ports. what speed is your internet if on you 1GB+ you may want to use Cat6+ cables. cat6 and cat6+ will give u what 1-10GB connection. i have been told any flat cable cannot be cat6+ and it make sense but never looked in to this. my cable in the walls are cat7 with cat8 connections on them and from the wall to any device are cat8 cables this is over kill as this gives me 40Gb connection on the 10m run and 10Gb on any run bigger then 10m(i don't think any are over 10). also the router i believe is capped at 1gb. i just wont want to rip up the wall again. so kinda future proofing a bit. and i know in my area i can get 2GB internet connection now with city fibre. My setup with cables is Modem > XR1000 to XR500(AP), and 2x ex770, XR500(AP) to PS5, TV, Sonos, 1x XR500 is to my Sons PS4, Even tho most of these devices show as offline they are really online and connected to one of the AP. just a shame they show offline here. but in the Phone APP and table view u can see the IP address and in network u can see devices working as normal.
-
Name mix up i notice is if another device get the same IP address. e.g iPhone 1 as IP of say 20 and then disconnects and a Laptop then connect and has the same Ip address the router seem to think it is still an iPhone. the only way i have fix this issue is to restart the router. but the much better way is to assign an ip address to each device (settings > setup > Lan Setup) i set my Starting IP Address to .40 (as i have around 37 normal devices). as my router had reset it self i have not added them all back in yet as this is not part of the backup file and is a pain in the add to add them back in. to note after you add the items to the router you will need to restart and then do a power off and wait 1-2 mins so all wifi devices pick up there assigned ip address and not try and connect with there old Ip address. Also if a device used a private mac address it will stay the same on the router till the user forgets it and then re-adds it. so turning them off when on the home wifi is what i do. but as the mac address does not change in private mode unless u forget your wifi and re-add it again. but as i keep a list of all my mac address so i can add assign IP addresses to them for when it crashes/reset it self again. i also have now memory left. after a the router resets it self it is around 7.8% free but i am normal around 1-2% free or -3% free. yes -3%

XR1000 Adblocker Lists Link no longer working
Caution replied to Caution's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
i have never been able to add file like txt to XR1000, i can add Text in but they have a limit to how many you can have in each block list. i have resorted to use add blockers list like (see screenshot). I do use the Text list for my white list but would love to be able to use a txt file as they hold much more items and would be much easier to add them. -
XR1000 Adblocker Lists Link no longer working
Caution replied to Caution's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
i have never been able to add file to the add blocker. as it just hangs on this screen. most of the time the blue line stays white. -
so today i noticed my add blocker was not working checked the link Default Add link: https://netduma.com/adblocker-lists/default-list.txt and it comes up with Error message "Oops! Seems we’ve moved what you’re looking for" checked it online and it still shows this link. has this list been moved or the server it is host on been moved?

XR1000 Issues I have noticed
Caution replied to Caution's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
The drop out seem to be linked to ISP. Has the Openreach out and they installed a new phone cable inside the house, a new Cable from the pole to the house and was still having issue and the Openreach guy saying it is down to the line underground cannot handle the speeds. but the issue would only happened from 9-5 for a week then changed from 12-4pm the following week. so i got them to send out another guy and i told him to change my ports at the exchange (this involves a call to India) he was supported that i new about this. and this seem to have fixed the issue not had one drop out in 4 days also at the same time i also added nextDNS to my setup and what a difference it makes. CPU usage seem to have fixed it self after doing a reformat of the router now stays mainly under 70% Hope to see some updated with device maping to help show devices online with AC points Also hope you add what something like what NextDNS has like Traffic Destination so we can see where traffic is coming from also there logs page is nice where u can see what pages have been looked up and what one have been blocked (and by what ad list). -
XR1000 Issues I have noticed
Caution replied to Caution's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
So internet issue dropping out does not seem to be linked to any router or machine issue as the modem it self loses connection with nothin plugged in. has phone line inside the house replaced, has a new cable installed from the telegraph pole to the house and the 2 pair of cables changed from the telegraph pole to the exchange and still have the same issue. now the drops out happen 9-5 (manly down). Back to the time on the router to turns out there is a 2nd area to change the time on the router that affected the time. so the NTP Settings in Admin settings does not seem to affect the router time. -

Not sure if i should jump in. but i also have the same issue but on the XR1000. Last week in reinstalled the firmware and then reset (I did try and do the TFTP but the XR1000 router Light does not flash orange on power on.) it but it was the Geo-Filtering and Ping heat map that had the same issue so today i done it again reinstalled firmware and reset router and set it up. this time the benchmark did work and i was adding in Ping test and one of them seem to stall and not does not load rebooted router so on so on and still has the same issue. -
XR1000 Issues I have noticed
Caution replied to Caution's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
OK i have removed Traffic Controller rules for the consoles and also removed Traffic Prioritization so only thing in there is DumaOS Classified Games and Work at home. well this week prob the best week to see where the issue lies. as my GF is away. so around this time i am the only person in the house. working from home. My machine connected to 2x different VPNs and we also use ProxyCap (new proxy tool that I hate but was getting the issue before this tool OpenSockets). I also may have Netflix playing on the TV in the background and my have to use my phone now and again. there will be other devices connected but not in use. also u supply my upstair access to internet on the guest WIFI so not sure of what they are doing (they don't own a computer/laptop but have Phones, tablets and 1xPS4) but again at the time of this happening all her kids are also at school. so it is just the mum home alone so mainly on her phone. to note the work laptop is always on in the background. so tonight i will turn it fully off so. XR1000 Issues I have noticed
Caution replied to Caution's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
Hello The time is now look ok in the router then adding the DST back on. but will not know if this fixes the issue till tonight at 8-9pm (UK time) Checked the router and cannot see anyway to disable IPv6 in the router in LAN/WAN page can only see a option in option > IPV6 and it shows as disabled. as you said not a big deal as will not affect anything. As the Offline Items the Duma and Nighthawk app show the items online and the items e.g laptop, iphone , Amazon fire tablet can all be streaming Netflix. prime or so on and it will still show offline on the website. The BT engineer has been out and did not find any issue with their line or modem (BT Open reach Modem MT992). so now wondering if it may be the XR1000 giving the modem an issue. Has there been any cases where the Xr1000 cosed a modem to drop internet? -
XR1000 Issues I have noticed
Caution replied to Caution's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
1. got router as new. upgraded to to latest version and seem to have some issue so reinstalled the firmware. have not done a factory reset. i am planning to do this over the weekend possible tomorrow. but have a BT engineer out tomorrow as the modem (BT Open reach Modem MT992) seem to be loosing connection to the internet for 2-3mins before it reconnects. the XR1000 router seems to running ok so taking it is a modem issue. Armour was enabled the free trail ran out a wile back and is now disabled(see screenshot). 2. a reboot off the router(and all other devices) does not help with devices offline. to note most devices will be connecting to XR500/EX7000 3. I have added these settings but now the time on the router is out by an hour. (see screenshot) 4. the 2x IP address i have added 3 screenshots 1x iPhone, 1x Ipad, 1x PS4 (they all on the guest WIFI) -
Hello all. first let me explain my setup. All external cables are cat 8, cables in the walls are cat7 with cat8 keystones on them. BT Open reach Modem MT992 > XR1000 (front of house) Port 1 > XR500 (Access point) (back of house) > Port 2 > PS5, Port 3 > TV Port 2 > EX7000 (Access point) (middle of house) Port 3 > PS4 I have reinstalled the most uptodate firmware on to the XR1000 incase this may of been the issue inc restarting the router and keeping the power off for 5mins. I boot up as Modem (2-3mins) > XR1000 (2-3mins) > XR500 (2-3mins) > EX7000 (2-3mins) I have guest WIFI set up on the XR1000 and XR500, the EX700 does not seem to have a Guest WIFI mod (to be far i thought this was part of the same range as nighthawk/Duma) 1. The CPU usage seem high jumping around 80-99% even even low data being used (less then 1mb). after the reinstall of the firmware it has got a bit better. 2. The device map list show a lot of devices offline. can you can see in the network snapshot and Duma IOS app shows devices online and i know some devices are online. I have also made sure IOS is not in Private WIFI address and so on. also the Duma apps does shows how the devices is connected correctly e.g WIFI/Cable and online/offline. Devices connected to either the XR500 or EX700 if they show online they will show as on the lan (i am guessing this should be the way it work as going thought these that are connected to the XR1000 with a lan cable). 3. traffic rules time seems to be out by an hour. I have check routers time and it shows the correct time but the rules do not activate till an hour after time E.G i would like to turn off Kais PS Pro at 9pm but i have to pick 8pm in the time for it to stop at 9pm (no big issue but still an issue) 4. i have noticed some devices getting 2 IP addressed linked to them. (to try and fix this gave most devices a static IP address, ones on guest wifi do not have static IP)
