After so long with the netduma R2 and the xr1000 as well as the R3 router, i have decided that these routers are simply not worth it. The amount of software issues & lack of functional updates is unbearable. I have switched to Asus routers which has definitely been alot better (Asus ROG rapture GT-AXE11000 Running asusWRT Merlin software) this router has been 1000% better in every aspect and it was the same price as Netduma routers. I love the concept the the Netduma routers but the functionality and software support for these routers are none existent. Im not sure what needs to change with the Netduma team but the lack of support is not on my list of favorites. Among the lack of software support, these routers seem under powered and cooling efficiency is lacking especially when pushing these routers to the limit. Netduma we pay money for these routers we are expecting you guys to make a real effort in solving issues like QOS or even interface related issues. I have been watching the forums for awhile now and i have made the decision to no longer be a supporter or customer until there’s some sort of major overhaul with the software and the team working on this… granted nothing is perfect but an attempt to roll out updates or “hotfixes” would be appreciated by many, and the fact that there is no 3rd party software support or solution shows me that these devices aren’t as customizable as they may seem. Overall i am extremely disappointed with netgear(xr1000) and netduma(R2,R3) i have owned them all & the only reason anyone should look at getting this router is for the geo filter for blocking servers you don't want to connect to. Overall i give these products a 3/10 absolutely a waste of money.

I’d much rather certain bugs get fixed to then to fully port over to os4… just my opinion though.

I forgot to mention that, I have my congestion control sliders set to 15% on both up and down & usually play with the sliders at or around/ blew these % my speeds are 500mbps down 50 upload.

So I been doing a lot of reading about the R3 & it seems I won’t be buying that router anytime soon or at all lol. I’m glad I have the R2 while not perfect it seems like a better performer than R3. Now for the real reason I’m making this post is because I noticed Ad blocker seems cause some kind of connection interface while gaming. I pause it or turn it off before I game but firmware version .280 seems to be the best R2 firmware so far. I am a beta tester and after seeing all the issues on Dumos 4 my main concern or question would be why not perfect the existing firmware/platform ? Seems like more work to scrap the old firmware which clearly was a lot more functional but just needed a bit of TLC. In any instance, I have not noticed much issues with firmware .280 aside from ad blocker causing some kind of connection interference while game or when doing a buffer bloat test on waveform. Occasionally the router breaks functionally and requires a restart ever so often due to congestion control not working properly or ad blocker adding some kind of interference to the connection which adds more latency/ buffer bloat. I’ve somewhat fixed the issue by doing a traditional reset then test the connection on waveform with ad blocker disabled & ideally get A+ rating with 0-1ms on buffer. Now with ad blocker on it makes these results a bit crazy and seems that it would be the cause for breaking functionality of the router in the firmware version(280). Final question, why not open source the firmware if the devs are struggling? Also a bit of a complaint, it’s very annoying to not have an ETA on updates, especially since they used to come very frequently(hence another reason to open-source & allow people to modify or play with firmware). This was a bit of a long one, mostly just talking and share some info but the devs kinda are chilling a little to much and people are mad about it (referring to updates) at least from the POV of a outsider looking in.

this guy is just cappin. there are differences, such as buffer bloat & how it's handled and its simply more refined on the R2 due to the most recent update but doesn't have as powerful hardware like the xr1000. I would go with R2 assuming u don't have a lot of devices or a big house. there are more factors but good hardware like the xr1000 is useless without good software/Stable updates. both are good but stable software with not as powerful hardware is what you'll get with the R2. @ALL out

hey, i would check around see if there are any splitters etc if so call ur isp to remove them, they cause increase in latency and reduced speeds most of which are inconsistent. another thing you can do is turn off ad blocker, i've noticed that can reduce speeds as well as checking to make sure your router isn't reserving too much bandwidth, you can check this by going to qos and looking at the sliders.

Uncategorized/Unknown Traffic in network monitoring (Netduma R2 3.2.453)
CES replied to CES's topic in Netduma R2 Support
hey so it looks like everything is being routed properly since i did a manual flash of the system (downgrade factory reset/upgrade factory reset) all packets are being recognized including gaming traffic and cloud for pc. i noticed that i had to push the button on the back of the r2 with a pin and reset it that way rather than doing it from software where it says "factory reset" anyways all is working good just thought I'd add that in there in case anyone might have needed the help or had similar issue. -
not sure if this would help u, but i did a manual flash of my system. just downgrade the firmware then update and it should working again. this happened to me as well and when i did that everything was fine afterwards. just keep in mind that every time you do and "update" or "downgrade" you need to factory reset.

so im playing halo mcc but i bought it through steam not the xbox app, i use xbox gamebar to chat with some friends so that might be where the 'xbox cloud games' is coming in... still i've been having issues with the "gaming" packets to show up. -

no i haven't disabled it & thank you -
i have tried everything to try and get the router to classify the traffic but nothing is being detected, i have restarted the router and everything, still having the same issues. it used to work before and it just stopped working out of the blue. network monitoring does not detect gaming, media or even web use. any fix for this ?
