Netduma R2 Keeps Restarting Every 24 Hours
JoshTheLuz replied to JoshTheLuz's topic in Netduma R2 Support
i installed the DumaOS 4 beta and problem seems to be solved, lukily since i have no absolute clue how to change the "DHCP lease" brother. -
I'm really frustrated with my Netduma R2 running firmware version 3.3.615. Every day, exactly 24 hours after the last restart or reset, my router automatically reboots. At first, I thought it was an issue with my main fiber router, but I’ve confirmed it’s definitely the Netduma causing the problem. This is especially annoying because the reboot usually happens around 1 AM, right when I’m in the middle of ranked Warzone matches. It’s been ruining my gaming sessions and honestly, it’s driving me nuts. I’ve tried factory resetting the router multiple times, but the problem keeps coming back. As a temporary fix, I started manually turning off the router every day at 3 PM, hoping to shift the reboot time to when I’m not gaming. This does make the router restart at 3 PM the day after instead of 1 AM, but each time it reboots, it adds about 3 minutes to the next shutdown time. So now it’s rebooting at 3:03 PM, then 3:06 PM, and keeps drifting later each day. After a few months, this workaround is completely useless. Has anyone else experienced this 24-hour auto-reboot issue with the Netduma R2? Are there any real fixes or workarounds that actually solve the problem? I love the features and performance of the R2 otherwise, but this issue is a major pain. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I will do it to help this amazing community. I will provide you the id of the wrong server. Probably tomorrow. For now I “might” have found a way to work this around, basically instead of drawing a circle around Milan I’m drawing a small circle around Geneva (my city) where I’m sure THERE ARE NOT cod servers, then I set ping assist to 15ms to indirectly force everything below 15ms (so Milan) What about this idea?
-
You’re suggesting that by drawing an area around Milan, it allows access only to servers within Milan while blocking those outside essentially it works whitelisting Milan and blacklisting everything else. I think there must be something else in Duma algorithm, if just white and blacklisting were done, the latency while searching in COD would rise, and getting a whitelisted server would be just luck done by random search until hitting the whitelisted server. Yet, the video demonstrates a consistent latency of <17ms ensuring it searches within <17ms only without increasing the search. Hence, there seems to be a specific instruction within Netduma for Call of Duty to let cod not increase the latency in search phase.
-
I was wondering if the geofilter takes into account not only latency but also the geolocation of IP addresses. I’ve observed that when I set Milan as my selected area, it seems to focus solely on finding servers in Milan , even if the ping to other locations, such as Frankfurt, is similar. Are there additional criteria that the geofilter considers to determine the geolocation of IPs apart from ping? I’m curious to understand the process better. Thank you for your assistance!

Hello everyone, I’m experiencing an issue with beta software 3.3.615 on R2, specifically regarding the geofilter when playing MW3. I’ve noticed that if I isolate a specific geographic area, in my case, Milan, the game seems to respond correctly: the match search happens at 15ms and remains stable without increasing. However, once the match is found, the Netduma seems to lose connection to the game itself. It essentially says “connecting,” and instead of entering the lobby, it goes back to searching for the game at 15ms repeatedly. The Netduma appears to successfully access the match initially, but for some reason, it loses connection after getting connected, reverting to searching for the game. It would be much more efficient if the geofilter didn’t disconnect me once it says “connecting.” Eventually, after 2/3 minutes of saying “connecting” and then searching again and again, it eventually finds the match and works, but what a waste of time! If anyone has experience or suggestions on how to tackle this situation, I would be very grateful for your help! Thank you very much!

ANNOUNCEMENT: Introducing the Netduma R3

If Duma OS 4 is available for the R2, what are the advantages of having it on the R3? Why should I buy the R3 instead of just installing OS 4 on my trusty old R2? -
Problem with Custom IP Address in Ping Heatmap on Netduma R2
JoshTheLuz replied to JoshTheLuz's topic in Netduma R2 Support
Yes Heatmap misses tens of Ips, iguess you guys from Netduma update manually heatmap thats why you got 20/30 Ips of WZ2 instead the real number which would be undreds, so it was a way to see my local server which isnt listed in heatmap -
I have a question regarding the "Allow and Deny" feature in the Geofilter section of my Netduma R2 router. During my gaming sessions, I've noticed that when I'm connected to a server, it shows up under the "Autoping" section. From there, I have the option to save it, and once saved, the server's name appears in the "Allow and Deny" list. However, I'm a bit unclear about the purpose of this feature. When I select "Deny," it's evident that I'm blocking that particular server. However, I'm not entirely sure what selecting "Allow" signifies. Isn't it already assumed that the server is allowed since it falls within the polygon or circle I've set up? I'm trying to understand if there's a specific use case for allowing servers outside of the chosen polygon, such as exceptional servers like Discord or Xbox Live voice servers. I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide me with more information on the "Allow and Deny" feature in the Geofilter section. Thank you

Hey everyone, I've come across a pretty annoying issue while using my Netduma R2 router, and I need your help. So, here's the deal: whenever I try to add a custom IP address in the Ping Heatmap section, it just doesn't work. Like, seriously, nothing happens when I enter the IP address and enable the custom list. It's driving me nuts! To break it down for you, when I enter a specific IP address in the field where it says "Ping Heatmap" > "Custom List" and hit that "Add IP Address" button, my router doesn't ping the IP address I entered. And as a result, I don't see any data or results related to that custom IP address on the Ping Heatmap. I've tried multiple times, tried different IP addresses, but it's like banging my head against a wall. Everything else in the Ping Heatmap seems to be working fine. It's just this darn custom IP address feature that's giving me trouble. Has anyone else faced this issue or maybe found a way around it? I'm all ears for any suggestions or tips to sort out this mess. Thanks a ton for your attention and support.

Hello everyone, I'm having an issue with setting up an OpenVPN profile on my Netduma R2 using the Hybrid VPN feature. The problem is that the profile doesn't have a username or password, but it does work when I open it using the OpenVPN client on my Windows machine. I was wondering if anyone could kindly help me modify the profile so that it works on my Netduma R2. Unfortunately, I'm currently in a rented house and using Claro's fiber optic connection, which gives me a high ping of 190ms to the Chilean server. I would love to switch to Entel, but the landlord doesn't allow it. I've thought about using a VPN to improve my connection, but all the VPNs I've tried still give me a high ping of around 190ms, so they don't seem to help with the routing issue. If you happen to know a VPN that has a direct routing similar to Entel between Lima and Santiago, I would be very grateful for your suggestion. Thanks again for your help ------------------------------------------------------ Lamentablemente, actualmente estoy en una casa alquilada y utilizo la conexión de fibra óptica de Claro, lo que me da un ping alto de 190 ms al servidor chileno. Optimal settings for ps5 and spectrum internet
JoshTheLuz replied to RogueFpv80's topic in Call of Duty Support
First, you need to go to the geofilter section and add a device, in this case, the PS5. Then create a geofilter by drawing a square around the nearest Call of Duty server, which you can find by going to Ping heatmap, selecting Warzone 2, and finding the closest server with the lowest ping. Once you've done this, you'll always force your connection to that server, ensuring the lowest possible latency. Next, go to QoS and set both upload and download to 30%, with automatic activation. Then connect all devices in your house to the Netduma. In QoS, select the "devices" option and allocate 100% of the bandwidth to the PS5, so that when the PS5 is connected, all other devices in the house have 0% priority. Make sure that the "share excess bandwidth" option is enabled in the dropdown menu so that unused bandwidth can be used by other devices, otherwise they will remain offline. Next, enable the ad blocker in the Netduma. And, of course, connect the PS5 via LAN instead of Wi-Fi. Finally, go to the Netduma's LAN settings and change the DNS to Cloudflare's -
Many users would like to see the feature of Ping Heatmap updated to reflect the ping values through the VPN, and I am one of them. It would be very helpful if the Ping Heatmap could show real-time ping values under HybridVPN connections, so that we can understand the impact of the VPN on latency. It would be ideal if this feature could be implemented with a dropdown menu that allows users to switch between viewing ping values with and without the VPN

Using a VPN does not necessarily make the lobbies easier in Warzone or any other game that uses Skill-Based Matchmaking (SBMM). It is a common misunderstanding that using a VPN can bypass SBMM. In reality, SBMM is still active even if you are using a VPN. However, it is true that using a VPN can create a network condition that results in high latency, making the game unplayable. When the latency is too high, the game will prioritize finding the best server available to optimize the poor connection. This often leads to being placed in a random lobby that is more likely to have lower-skilled players since the majority of players in the game are casual players. It's important to note that in order to create this network condition, you must connect to a VPN server that provides more than 180ms of latency. But even if you manage to achieve this, you will likely have to deal with phantom bullets and other issues that come with high latency. In summary, using a VPN may not necessarily make the lobbies easier in Warzone or any other game that uses SBMM. Instead, it can create a poor network condition that will make the game unplayable, and even if you do manage to achieve that condition, it's unlikely to be an enjoyable gaming experience due to the high latency and other issues

Hello everyone, I'm currently located in Peru and I'm using a Netduma R2 gaming router to isolate the Chilean area in Warzone 2 for better gaming performance. However, despite my attempts to force the game to connect only to servers in Chile, I keep getting connected to servers in Brazil instead. I've already confirmed that there is a server located in Chile for the game, using Netduma's pingheatmap feature, and I retrieved its IP address (66.203.113.33). When I ran a traceroute from my Windows PC, I noticed that the connection was being redirected from Chile to Brazil. It seems like the Call of Duty server automatically redirects anyone who connects to it to another server, in this case a Brazilian one. I'm now hoping to get some help from anyone located in Chile to run a traceroute test on the same IP address (66.203.113.33) to see if they're also being redirected to Brazil. It would be great if multiple people could run this test so we can gather more data and hopefully figure out why this is happening. If you're in Chile and can spare some time to help me out

Thank you for your response. I apologize for my mistake regarding the compatibility of the Geofilter with HybridVPN on the Netduma R2. I was mistaken in assuming that it was not possible to use both features together. I have checked the firmware version of my R2, and it is up to date. I have also confirmed that my IP location is showing as being in Chile while connected via the VPN. However, I still believe that it would be helpful to implement the Ping heat map for HybridVPN as well. This would allow users to see real-time Ping values under VPN connections. Additionally, I had encountered the issue of finding matches outside of Chile when using HybridVPN + Geofilter forcing on Chile, which led me to believe that the compatibility was not working as intended.

I would like to report an issue I've encountered while using the Netduma R2 and the Geofilter function. As you know, the Geofilter allows you to limit your connection to servers located in a specific geographic area, and it is an essential function that led me to purchase the device. However, I have found that the Geofilter only works when the connection comes directly from the home router, and it is not compatible with the Hybrid VPN, another function of the Netduma. As a result, it is not possible to use the Geofilter when connected via Hybrid VPN. I live in Peru and have two nearby servers: Brazil, which has a ping of 90ms, and Santiago, Chile, due to the poor infrastructure of South America, the ping to Santiago is 170ms without VPN, while with VPN, the ping is only 30/35ms. Naturally, I would like to connect to Santiago. I have found that when I try to connect to Santiago via Hybrid VPN, Call Of Duty redirects me to the server in Brazil, which has an unplayable in-game ping of 100ms. This happens because the Santiago servers are often full or too small, so COD connects me to the Brazil server as an alternative. Instead, if I force Santiago via the Geofilter without using Hybrid VPN, I can play on Santiago, but the ping is 170ms, which once again makes the connection unplayable. The only way to have a 30ms ping would be to connect to Santiago via Hybrid VPN + Geofilter. Unfortunately, since the Hybrid VPN is not compatible with the Geofilter, I cannot force the connection to Santiago with the Geofilter + HybridVPN. It would be very helpful if the Geofilter worked in conjunction with the Hybrid VPN, so that I can connect to Santiago via Hybrid VPN and then force the connection to Santiago with the Geofilter. I hope that Netduma developers will resolve this issue in the future. Thank you for your attention, and I look forward to any suggestions on how to resolve this problem. I understand that adjusting the ping assist to exclude Brazil is a suggested solution, but I have already tried this and unfortunately it does not work for me. The game still finds a match in Brazil. I still strongly believe that implementing Geofilter compatibility with Hybrid VPN is the best solution for players like me who need to use both features. I hope that the team will reconsider this implementation and prioritize it in future updates, as it would greatly improve the user experience for those of us who play from regions with limited server options.
