XR500 Factory Reset Loop
shoeprano27 replied to MisterJinx420's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
i was going to purchase a new router today during lunch until i found this. i was facing similar problems like OP. i was on the new beta 3.3.535. i dont ever touch the settings.i dont even game tbh. i just made sure i was getting the mbps im suppose to through spectrum and im good. but the past few days, i kept getting a "you are no longer connected to your router..." bootloop. i knew about nmrpflash but i dont like doing command line things. i tried tftpd 32 and 64 and i get the same bootloop. was gonna try those other firmwares that the cool kids are tinkering with but didnt want to deal with this router performing lower than stock firmware. even though, during the flash, i got a warning: tftp block rollover message but everything worked. im not sure if i should stick with 2.3.2.134 (since im consecutively getting the mbps im subscribed to so far), go back to beta 3.3.535 or look for a "things i must do after installing...." list to get an even better performance. either way, im happy. alot of others have this same exact problem but none mentioned nvmpflash. i even saw someone saying to let the router sit in 91% isopropyl alcohol. maybe someone else that has the same issue might find this simple fix. thank you for the recommendation. -

so i started noticing way too much buffering while watching a 4k (or close to it?) youtube video through an nvidia shield pro. thought it was my shield so it gave me a good reason to reformat and start brand new again. still slow. called spectrum and had them do whatever they usually with inrternet problems on their end. did a speed test and the numbers read normal like before. loaded up a youtube video and now im back at square one. thought i tried 1 more thing before i break the cm2000 and this router into peices. going back to 234 made everything fine again. maybe ill try what ameryjr above did during the weekend but really not sure if i want to go through it again. -

1. Yes, i ping -t 192.168.1.x and it reads. I also tried factory reset and rebooting through the modems interface and still didn't work. 2. Yes, full access. 3. My phone and rberry pics are connected to I my 5g connection of the wifi I had setup after flashing firmware. 4. The other ports? Yeah, I have my desktop, Nvidia shield, TV and laptop connected to them and they seem fine. Correct. Just a single solid bright light labeled power. I also tried the different led settings from the router interface and still a no go. -

shoeprano27 replied to shoeprano27's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
sorry, im just barely seeing this. i did the 30-30-30 reset, making sure the power led was blinking white. then changed the static ip and used tftp64. used the 2nd tab (tftp client), filled in the host, port, uploaded firmware 2.0.0.28 because any other ones wont work and i was up and running. -

Mods can delete this if need be. Got it back on stock. -
...Or could it be something else?? I tried plugging it back in and all it does is stay at "network cable unplugged. I tried doing that tftpd thing and it just hangs and server interface keeps changing to 127.0.0 software loop. Was about to just go buy a new and better router but decided to ask here first if there's any troubleshooting I can try. Im all ears.. Power light stays on orange for about 7 seconds, then goes dark while usb, eth1, eth2, etc blinks white for 3 seconds, goes dark and repeats itself.
