  1. Something along the lines of best gaming modem
  2. No I mean he hasn't tried any other modem except for the 6183 and claims it's the best with no issues... But he doesn't know if he has issues cause he hasn't tried anything else. Basically just a troll who's here to disagree with whatever anyone here says. Pay no attention to him.
  3. Yeah... don't pay attention to him.
  4. Most of those modems use the Intel Puma chipset which is broken. Has nothing to do with this router.
  5. CONFIRMED... MOD BOX EXPOSED!!!
  6. Have you tried any other brand modem besides Arris?
  7. Good for you and your name calling. Great way to prove your point.
  8. Still not reading what I wrote. Try again.
  9. Again, I said all major ISPs. Armstrong is not even close to a major ISP. Even then the modem would probably still work, they just won't let you use it for whatever reason they have. In fact they won't let you use any modem except for 3, and none of those 3 are yours. So what's your point? Because I have tested the TC-7610 on ALL major US ISPs. I played the infinite warfare beta, and loved it. But I don't have to play to look at how the netcode works and is a clear problem with the game itself, not the servers. Pinging a server will show you a flat line ping with 0 loss. That is amazing! But the problem with that, is you are pinging an external IP address at some data center. This doesn't account for server loads, and the horrible coding/software in which the game is run on. Which is why, I don't look at how a game "feels" while I'm playing it. I gather IP addresses from various games and services, and then test them in a controlled way with no outside influence to see how a modem performs under various conditions. Again, I never said it doesn't work. I said "If you want the BEST possible gaming experience on ANY router with ANY major cable ISP in the USA, then the TP-Link TC-7610 is one of the very few modems which offer that." In fact, Fraser even said "Keep in mind, the R1 still works with those listed you just may get a better experience with those in the compatibility list." So this just comes down to selective hearing, or in this case selective reading. You are reading what you want me to say, not what I am actually saying. What I am saying is, yes, I too thought my SB6141 worked fine. In fact, I used it for about 8 months without realizing how much I had crippled my internet. I sat here blaming Netduma or a faulty router/software. After extensive testing I came to find out that it was my modem, the SB6141 which everyone claims to work fine, which was causing a problem. I removed the modem, and my problem went away. I then took that modem, shipped it off to Texas, connected it to Time Warner Cable rather than Comcast... And what do you know? The problem happened there too! What a surprise, I was right! Arris sucks for gaming. I'm checking out how it increases as you reduce congestion. As I said, that's a problem. 100% congestion control which is effectively off, and 25% congestion control should have nowhere near the same ping fluctuations... unless of course you're using a modem which randomly spikes causing random results. But obviously I'm just here trying to troll people, not help. Wow! So a guy who is paid $13 an hour came to your house in a 15 minute time slot that he has reserved for you, and he told you that their network wasn't the problem? Humph, who woulda thunk it?! I bet he connected his signal meter for a whole minute too! As I said multiple times now your test is flawed. I don't know why you don't believe that, but you clearly had different variables at play while testing both modems. If you'd like to know what those are go back and re-read everything I said to you and you'll see that your test is flawed. Plus, it is very clearly recommended to turn off IPv6 on the Netduma and you do not. So to test using IPv6 is just another flaw in your test. You can clearly see if you go back and look at the screenshots you posted: You claim that you tested the 7610 with google.com using IPv4 and IPv6. You can clearly see that for the 7610 (or the test you claim was the 7610) you pinged 8.8.8.8 which is Google DNS (which has been proven to be unreliable to ping) using IPv4 only. In the second set of screenshots, you claim to be using the DPQ3212, while pinging www.google.com using IPv6 only. So tell me, how is your test not flawed? Two different modems, setup two different ways, pinging two different IPs with two different communications protocols and you expect similar results? https://explorable.com/controlled-variables From this point on, I am only replying to new people on this thread that have a serious question. I am no longer engaging in this pissing contest with people who haven't tested anything, but claim to know the results.
  10. There are only 3 people here who claim that their Arris modems work fine. You are one of them... Everyone else who switched off an Arris modem has commented on how amazing the new modem is working for them. You haven't used anything except for Arris. That's like saying "I only buy Nike shoes because they are the best!" Well, have you tried any other brand? "No but they are the best, I know it." Also, the TP-Link TC-7610 works on every major cable ISP in the USA. So your argument about needing something that is compatible with a different ISP is invalid. It goes up to 340 Mbps+ which is faster than any cable internet. Looking back at XSXS "tests" I found other flaws in his testing which I didn't want to bring up, but since you mentioned him I will. As I previously stated, he is using splitters and attenuators to balance his signal. That's like putting square tires on your car because it goes too fast... Besides that, you can clearly see in his "test" screenshots that he isn't even pinging a reliable IP (Google DNS), let alone the same IP (One is IPv4 and the other is IPv6). So of course it will give different results, plus it's at different times of the day. Bottom line is this. If you want the BEST possible gaming experience on ANY router with ANY cable ISP in the USA, then the TP-Link TC-7610 is one of the very few modems which offer that. Regardless if you believe it or not... That's not my problem. I'm not here to convince people who are stubborn and insist on something yet they haven't tested it themselves. If you think that your Arris modem works fine for you, then good for you. I'll be here enjoying this: That's 2ms jitter on a congested, oversold, cable ISP.
  11. First, it's infinite warfare... You have not done a ping test. Second, you've proven my point right here: And when I actually look at the links to those specific tests, the results are scary... What annoys me is that instead of a nice clean organized list of modems that clearly work and do not work well for the best possible gaming experience, new people see this 10 page long pissing contest of people who are making claims without having actually tested any other modems or gone through and tested every combination of settings/setups. Those new people come here and see this nonsense and don't know what to think. "Why is one person saying my modem doesn't work, but someone else is saying it works fine?" But hey, I'm not here to convince you or anyone else to buy a different modem. If you think you're happy, and you think that everything works fine for you then good for you! But I know I too once thought my setup was fine... Until I wasn't stubborn and bought a $30 modem to make a world of difference to me, and make my gaming experience that much better. The same goes for many others who simply accepted my knowledge and made a small investment for a new modem which resulted in a better quality of life. I can go on and on, but again, if I say the sky is blue people will say no it's not. This is how the internet works, and quite frankly I do not care. My goal on this forum is not to troll people and tell people they are wrong. But as a general rule, I live life by not opening my mouth to talk about something unless I know what I'm talking about... this is one of those times.
  12. No need to test the SB6190 as it has an intel puma 6 chipset and every modem with that chip completely destroys your ping. (I've tested other modems with a Puma 6 chip) I don't care what kind of software patches and fixes they implemented, software can't fix a hardware problem. You can only put a bandaid on the issue. Do you really want to play time sensitive games on a modem that is part of a lawsuit for using faulty hardware and selling it to millions of customers? Especially when you can use literally any other modem and get better results. https://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/12/03/intel_puma_chipset_firmware_fix/
  13. I have though. Multiple different modems with multiple setups, speed plans and locations throughout the country. Only the modems on the confirmed working list are ones that work under ALL conditions. Which I have meticulous gone through trying each individual setting and option to purposely break things. For example, a SB6141 SEEMS to work fine. Until you enable super turbo mode. But I really don't have to explain myself to you. If I said the sky was blue you would try to argue differently. Have YOU used any other modem besides the SB6183? No.
  14. It's a list that was made by me, of modems I've personally and painstakingly tested to ensure that they will work flawlessly with every feature of the the Netduma. Unfortunately it has turned into a pissing contest of people assuming every modem works, just because they never tried a different modem to see the difference. Good luck.
  15. Modem doesn't show in ping plotter first hop is your R1, second is your local node/headend
  16. When it was on and fully connected, were the lights all solid or did they blink?
  17. The same way phone companies manage to destroy a perfectly good phone OS by installing all their bloatware and disabling useful features. Basically, in this case TP-Link, manufacturers send out their modem firmware to ISPs to test and customize for their network. Once they have a version they like they push it to your device. This is why some people have a new UI on their 7610 and some people still have the older UI (which is better)
  18. If it's not a line issue then you have something setup wrong with the Netduma (most likely problem), or your ISP broke their firmware for the TC-7610.
  19. Reboot it at random times during the day, it will switch channels. I had no luck on channels 1-24, so I had to keep rebooting until I got on 25-32 until Comcast finally did their job and fixed the local node. At least with an 8 channel modem you can avoid bad channels. If you go with any other modem you're stuck on the bad ones 95% of the time. Any issues with ping or jitter here are due to your line, not the modem. Something you need to take up with your ISP, but unfortunately most don't care and due to the natural of how cable internet works it's almost impossible to have a stable ping. But, hey, what do I know? I'm just some poor guy who's had a Netduma for 2+ years now and know the ins and outs of everything about cable internet. Not like I install 10 Gbps internet cause it's good for gaming
