This was the other reason I question the hardware, the Mikrotik rep indicated the CPU is the only bottleneck.

Just so everyone knows I am not trolling here or being a hater.  believe me I want the Netduma to kick butt in all aspects.  For one I already invested in it and for two, I don't have the money to buy a new router ATM.

The reasons why I posted this is as follows:
    1.  The delay in the DumaOS, I mean it was supposed to be released in fall of last year.  Why exactly is there a delay?  Coding issues?, hardware issues? etc.
    2.  Even with the present firmware I see little quirks, I.e. I moved congestion control slider by 1% and lose 20 meg bandwidth and other threads with bandwidth issues which indicates to me there is throughput issue but that is just me, etc.
    3.  I remember seeing posts back in 2015 of people questioning the capability of the hardware and it is 2017 and the hardware has not changed.
    4.  Most gaming routers are dual core and with at least a 1 GHZ processor.
    5.  Netduma has lot of features that need processing power.
    6.  I can't even have have QoS on on my Asus router without turning off NAT acceleration and hardware is almost identical to the Netduma

I am also aware that Mikrotik makes very good routers and usually perform better than any other consumer branded router with the same specs.
Anyway, just wanted to let you my reasoning so no one thinks I am attacking Netduma.

Okay I've been wondering will the existing hardware be able to run the new DumaOS efficiently?  By technology standards the hardware is out of date with only a 600 MHz single core processor and 128 Mb RAM.  I know with all the features the Netduma offers it will need a lot of processing power. I am concerned that the existing hard ware will not be able to handle all the processing required to run the new Duma OS. I mean most new routers have dual core processors running at over 1GHZ!

What is everyone's takes on this?

Yeah you are right..... A company has never made a mistake before. Not everything that works on paper works in real life applications! Come on man! Lol.

I'm no hardware expert but I doubt it. Congestion control, host filtering, anti spike/jitter, the cloud hyper lane, etc that is quite a bit of stuff right there. That a lot processing power right there.

thanks for the insider infos, the person whos in charge for the public communication at netduma should be send back to school, ive rarely seen such an incompetente company communication
making an announcement to go full software side would harm exactly no one and would hardly affect the sales too

i mean removing the R1 statement from the homepage with no additional info on that?
no clue how such a person could get into a leadership role at netduma or how the people above could think thats a good strategy lol

either way, ill visit this forum in a few weeks or month again and expect exactly 0 progress until then, pretty sure netduma can at least meet my expectations in that regard

First of all I am a satisfied Netduma R1 user. It has its flaws but thats why DumaOS is announced.
I am still using my R1, and almost convinced myself of buying the XR500. But there is the question is it better then the R1??
No communication about that topic, what will be the differences between those 2 except faster hardware.

Ok nowI have read this thread several times the last months and have a few good laughs.

Today I read some more and had to make a post. Keep in mind this is my first post on a public forum in 10 years.

I can't believe there is no update whatsoever. On Twitter everyday announcements (on the R1 dashboard) about DumaOS functions on the XR500.

The most of all I am dissapointed in the promisses that are made, delay announcement (false or not) and then the total lack of communication.
Announcements on the Netduma website are changed out of the blue, without any updates how the development is going. What can we expect?

    Free or no free update.
Pls Netduma make an end on all of this and set some thing clear to all of your Netduma users. What can we expect?
    Put that on Twitter!

    Sorry for my bad English.

    The end.

Someone with a weak argument always goes after the other person rather than their argument.

They broke their promise of end of april release aswell as their few weeks is all it will take lie. This company has 0 good will. Half of the other options in the router are not functioning properly for users, except for mods that is - they have higher iqs so everything works fine for them.

A lie is a lie and they should be called out for it. People who visit the forums must know what they are throwing their hands into.

just because you say it's free doesn't make it so. It's an inclusion in the PURCHASE of the router. Free is the feedback the community gives to netduma. It doesn't matter when the update comes out because like every other update released, the forums are going to be flooded with issues.
I get their hard at work. What I don't get is why they announce dates they know they can't meet. Without a definitive date there's no reason mention one. I think that's the real issue everyone is having.

Again your post/answer and this stupid picture shows that you are not the brightest candle on the cake. Of course it costs money because we all paid a good amount of money for the router which guaranteed "life time" support and Netduma announced several releases dates but broke it every time. So therefore....

The only UPDATE they had was on April 16th 2018 saying that it was delayed for a few weeks.  4 more days and it will be 2 months since their delay.  The allotted weeks time they said has come and passed.  Good job NetDuma.

That was not what I am asking for as it is obviously and sadly a blind and brainless would have already accepted that. And its a shame.

You really believe they release it in the next time?? I want an honest answer, not a fanboy answer, thanks.

ps.: Why you are here with your umpteenth post to bash ppl expressing their frustration. Nobody asked for it coming faster in relation to expressing the feelings about the situation. We "frustrated" already got it for a long time that it will make nothing faster. Therefore more frustration will be voiced as its not a proper handling of the situation at first hand.

    Was vorallem WICHTIG IST!

Tell us the truth then almighty as you seem to be. I call out liars (never said Ian is a liar btw just citing his twitter) if they make promises over and over (just a few more weeks, everything is ready just needs backward compatibility, just to name some, ridiculous) and can't stand ANY one of them.

And it's not outta way it's the damn actual situation we are facing which was developed by Netduma themselves. We just call it out!

I had custom configs for VPNArea then subsequently ExpressVPN working. The problem is VPN on the R1 was excruciatingly slow compared to the VPN desktop apps.

It doesn't work for me properly as well. Please stop pretending that all these things are always user configuration faults. They aren't. VPN doesn't work for me properly for over a half year after several changes on PIA side.

Same for titofuenla, it's not that we are too dumb to configure our router. It's just that not all features are supported with high bandwidth lines. And with the advertisement wording of "unlock the full potential of the R1 for the first time with DumaOS" maybe some are hoping that this limitation might not exist in DumaOS but I personally don't hold my breath to be true.

Why on earth would anyone "just get the *XR500" if we were told we're getting DumaOS on the R1 in April? That's exactly why we're here waiting for an update
