...and i have no idea how to use them.I think i kind of have the host filtering figured out.But have lots more questions

about the duma.I can't figure out what is what on my devices other than 1 phone and the netgear router.Every thing else says nameless device, how do i find out what is what and give them a name ?

And should i be on a static ip on my ps3,i was before with port's forwarded. But after last night i am on a dynamic with no ports forwarded.

When i use the geo filter 2 problems i think.First i don't think it has me in the right area,i live in Michigan pretty close to lake Michigan and the great lakes are kinda hard to miss on any map of the U.S. seems it has me more in the southwest than by the great lakes.

And secondly on the geo filter am i the white dot on the map.It always shows other red dots but none bigger than the others,so does this means i'm on dedi's all the time ?

And how do you log out of your router ?

I know lots of questions but abc will vouch for me in the fact that i don't know what i'm doing. But am trying to figure things out as i go and pick up all the info i can.

Hi Fuzzy,

No problem ask away. Right so answers to your qs:

  1. If the duma has not recognised it then it takes a bit of trial and error. I guess look at the network monitor and then do something on the device you'll see its bandwidth usage go up. Then you can go to "Device Manager" click "Edit" and rename the device :)
  2. No please don't set static IP
  3. Don't worry about that, just move your home location using the house button above the map.
  4. Yes you're the white balloon. If one circle is big its the host. If all circles are big you are host. If no circles are big its dedicated server :)
  5. Our testers said they preferred not to have login so it doesn't have one but we will soon add an opt-in one

Hope that helps mate

Alright Iain thanks for the answers, got all the devices named. So on to the next set of questions lol...

Where should all my settings be at to start.I read a lot on here and it seems to vary for everyone but what is a good starting point for the anti flood and the other things so i get the best gaming and netflix can still run for Mrs. Fuzzy without one slowing down the other.I'll go read some more posts so i know the names of the things i'm trying to figure out as this will help everyone involved  :D

The host analysis and ping features are what i couldn't think of.I go to look at host analysis and it says no recent games played but i just played. Also can't find the ping graph while i'm in game and don't know why

Hey fuzzy,

The Host analysis is for PC gaming only.  I think Iain should hide it unless there is data.

To ping the host on the geo-filter map click the largest circle and click Ping below the map

^^ about ping and host analysis :)

For anti-flood I suggest when you're playing set it to 70% up and down. When you're not playing set it 100% for both

What would a good setting be for the device prioritisation on my ps3 while the Mrs is watching netflix.I set it at 90 with share excess ticked,is this correct ? More so will this setting not get me beat by the Mrs cuz netflix keeps buffering.

90% of your connection is plenty for netflix since you have basically 60/6.  pull the PS3 away from the center, out further than the rest of the devices this will be all you need to do.

@ abc you got that turned around,i set my ps3 at 90 % not the netflix is that ok ?

you can't set the PS3 to a percentage.  just the anti-flood download and upload cap, setting those to 90% is safe (Iain recommended 70%).

Then you see the Pretty Pie looking thing below it?  pull the PS3 dot away from the center.

@ abc yup that's what i did on the pie chart set my ps3 to 90%.I may not be using the right terminology let me look.Under congestion control anti flood set to preemptive and 70 % on both download cap and upload cap (will try 90) and under that device prioritisation pie chart i got my ps3 pulled out to 90,too much

Ah yes, just pull it to something like 23 - 40 this should be sufficient
