A question to somebody who understands computer game programing/coding.

So as you've probably realised, ops3 is riddled with lag compensation, it's the worst I've ever experienced, it's to the point now we're I'm actually not enjoying the game.. (it's double xp right now and I'm not on it.. Sums it up) my question is, is this something treyarch can fix? Remedy? Tune? Remove? Or is it stuck in the game and nothing can be done? If nothing changes I will not be buying any maps and I'll just play when I'm bored.. So fucking disappointed tbh

The reason the lag compensation is so "bad" for some is because of the infinite amount of varying factors that go into multiplayer gaming on a network, programming and hardware level.

I've gone into this before, so I will skip the technical details, but until we master faster-than-speed-of-light speeds (Quantum Physics), lag compensation is the only way we can play in semi-real time across great distances.

What I strongly believe is happening with BO3 is a combination of things, but most likely the algorithm / programming Treyarch uses prioritizes low speed (high ping) packets versus high speed packets; players who are closer to the server send data at a much faster rate. The reason I believe this may be a main cause of low ping players being unfairly penalized is because nine times out of ten, players with 100-200+ ping are often at the top of the leader board. From a hardware, networking perspective this is supported because a slower speed of packets to the console / server is much easier for the game to process (given the limited hardware of console P2P hosts) than a high speed stream of data.

Also, if you're wondering why whenever you try and play with a high ping and it's unplayable on your end this is most likely packet loss (jitter) versus just being farther way from the host / server. You can have a solid stream of data with zero packet loss, but if you're far way from a server it's just going to take longer for the data to be sent, processed and sent back. We're talking milliseconds, here, but in a game like CoD, this can be the difference between life and death. This is why I believe the netcode favors high ping players a.k.a. low speed data streams because the modified Quake III engine CoD is built off of was around during the days of 56K modems which by definition is a slow rate of data transfer.

I'm glad you guys understand, I knew it couldn't just be me playing bad, im.a good player, however there certain opponents that no matter how fast you are they win the battle.. Very very frustrating man.. I'm hoping they level the playing field real soon

I wouldn't hold my breath on that one,it's been this way since MW3 and there not gonna change things now.

There are a whole lot more people with bad internet than good internet,so the gaming company's aren't gonna cut their own throat by punishing the people with bad internet. It's easier to make the game playable for the people with McDonalds wifi internet as opposed to the people that optimize their connection.
