Hi Josh,

Firstly thanks for purchsaing the router. Secondly please don't upgrade just yet.

I think you have a static IP address on your computer. Can you follow the instructions here and see if they help: http://forum.netduma.com/topic/542-solution-cant-get-to-netduma-dashboard-netduma-bricked/

Please let me know how you get on.

Ahh ok if you can access the page that is good. Can you make sure the cable connected to your other router/modem is connected to port 1 on the netduma please.

I think you may have an unusual setup. Firstly you mention a DHCP server, are you running your own one? Can you give me a diagram of your current layout please, for example:

Modem > Router > Netduma R1 > Other devices

Also what ISP are you with?

It sounds very much to me like the Ethernet is incorrect slot. Can you take a picture of the router itself connected to the modem please?

Iain, he is in chat at the moment :) He can access the R1 home page while connected to the R1 but also hid modems home page so I don't think it could be that he has connected it to the wrong slot :)

No. My ISP doesnt even know what happened. They don't know how I even have access to the router home page. They say everything is all good on theyre end (assigned IP) but I still have no access on my end. Ive all but gave up

hi Josh could you possibly post a pic of your equipment , or reply with what it is brighhouse gave you to connect to the internet, (prefably with the model number and or make )

Hey Josh, on Windows 8 can you go to search and search for command prompt and choose that. Once its opened type in ipconfig /release and then press enter. Once thats done type ipconfig /renew and press enter. Once thats done see if you can access the internet :)

Yes. It's a Motorola Surfboard. The model is SBG6580. What my ISP is saying is when they bridge my Motorola, everything is good. They can communicate with my Netduma, an my modem says its online. Even with all that said, It still says I have no internet. When he unbridges it back no normal its says I'm online and all the notifications say I'm online, but I'm not, then he looses contact with the router. I wonder if its something on my desktop that causes this. The modem is also Black.

Hi Josh don't worry we will get this sorted. Sorry about the time you've had to spend on this. I suggest you do this if you don't mind. Open up the cmd prompt and run the command

"ping 8.8.8.8"

and post the result here please. Please try it on two different machines if you can. That will tell us if you have Internet. You may have a DNS issue for example, so the result from that can help us diagnose further.

Based on that and what you said in chat, for some reason the other router/modem is blocking the traffic. The router is literally doing its job, its routing packets to the other router BUT for some reason that other router is either dropping them on the way out or dropping them on the way in.

How did you connect before? Did you connect your devices directly into the brightbox router or was there another one?

Yes I did. I also used it for wireless as well. Basically, what you said is exactly what the ISP tech said. He couldnt even get the DMZ to work. I have them coming out to swap out this Surfboard router/modem, and replace it with a standard modem. I have my fingers crossed it works!

That makes it even more puzzling because the surfboard or whatever its called can't tell the difference between a router & a PC. So I can't comprehend why it would allow yours PCs and other devices but not the router. I really hope the engineer figures it out and please let me know what the reason is incase another customer in future has your issues.

So sorry for the inconvenience Josh, I imagine you were excited to get on and start playing and instead spent a day on it. I wish we could help more.

Its late over here(UK) I'm off to sleep but fingers crossed man. I'm confident we will get it working and you'll be owning in no time.

I had my ISP come out today, and they installed a new modem, and bridged it. Still nothing. Now, my computer doesn't recognize even being directly plugged into a new modem. Everything I plug in now says Limited Access.

Hi josh so sorry about that I'm away from the computer now but I'll give you instructions tomorrow on exactly what to do. Don't worry I'm almost certain it's an issue on your PC. Can you try connect via any other devices?

Josh I'll try help now can you try doing the following things:

  1. Connect your computer to the duma via wire, can you access the duma interface at 192.168.88.1
  2. If you can, can you go to "Device Manager", at the top of the page do you see a big blue box?
  3. If so can you click the button on the box and access the other router?

After doing all of that, can you connect your computer to the other router/modem. Do you have Internet access? If you do can you do the following:

  • If your on windows open the cmd prompt type in "ipconfig /all" (without the quotes) and press enter
  • If your on Mac or Linux open the terminal and type in "ifconfig" (without the quotes) and press ender

Based on all the info you give from that we can figure out what is going on. Thanks again Josh.
