RoninWarrior Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Can anyone tell me why my latency is so bad with the R1 connected?
Guest Netduma Fraser Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 What settings are you using for Geo-filter?
RoninWarrior Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 around 2300km distance at 60ms ping
Guest Netduma Fraser Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Can you not get any games with a decreased distance such as 1000km?
Adam Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Can anyone tell me why my latency is so bad with the R1 connected? hi there could you clarify what you mean by bad latency please it would help us diagnose easier ?
RoninWarrior Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 I could but this is from doing a speed test on from my xbox one...it says I have 106ms latency
RoninWarrior Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 Sorry but there must be a crazy delay between posting something and it registering on this forum...
Guest Netduma Fraser Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Doing a speed test from a PC and going to speedtest.net what do you get?
Adam Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 I could but this is from doing a speed test on from my xbox one...it says I have 106ms latency Ah ignore that , the connection tests and network tests on the xb1 ping to Seattle, secondly xbl has some serious core services issues. ping is just a measurement between you and server it changes depending what you ping to or if your gaming what server you connect to
RoninWarrior Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 my PC ping to speedtest is normal which is usual around 40ms ping
RoninWarrior Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 I'm also wondering if I can change my home location on the geo-filter map so that I'm not wasting the search grid on water since I live on the Eastern sea port of the US
Adam Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 I'm also wondering if I can change my home location on the geo-filter map so that I'm not wasting the search grid on water since I live on the Eastern sea port of the US Yes that's a really smart move, what i tend to do is move my home location so my actual location is inside the geo filter range.
Guest Netduma Fraser Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Yeah its probably an Xbox live issue then if a PC speed test is normal. Yes you can click on the button that looks like a house on the Geo-filter and clicking on the map where you want it to be
RoninWarrior Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 For me I would have to move my home 2 states over to keep the filter out of the ocean...
Guest Netduma Fraser Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Give it a go and see how it works out
RoninWarrior Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 Will do...thanks for responding guys
RoninWarrior Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 One last question....I know you guys recommend putting the DL & UL on congestion control at around 70%. If the only thing using bandwitch is lets say my gaming console and its hard wired do those numbers (70%) even matter at that time??
Guest Netduma Fraser Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 It will still take effect. However, its unlikely youd need it being the sole user of your connection. It would help with ping spikes and lots of users use it whilst gaming
RoninWarrior Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 So even if I'm the only one online in the household while gaming I should still put it around 70%?
PharmDawgg Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 How does it help with ping spikes? Because I have problems with jitter and spikes.
RoninWarrior Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 I'd like to know the answer to buck nasssty's question as well....
Guest Netduma_Iain Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Are you describing spikes on Internet Diagnosis section? If so the netduma can't do anything about that, its an issue with your ISP I'm sorry to say You need to call them with the evidence you have(details section).
Guest Netduma_Iain Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Sure mate, that was the purpose of Internet diagnosis. It disables your Internet so you can tell for sure the culprit.
Buds Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 If you are the only one using the internet whilst gaming, then short of having a really slow DSL connection gaming will never even touch the sides of your bandwidth pipe
