Won't let me upgrade to version 1.02.6 and more

Hello,

I just recieved my R1 yesterday and after an hour or so managed to get my NAT type open on Advanced Warfare. After playing I still have a 3 out of 4 bar connection in the game with the filter set to 950km and get anywhere from 60-90ms ping to the host. I started reading forum pages and realized theres a version 1.02.6 out but at the bottom of my netduma page (192.168.88.1) it says debug version 1.02.2. When I click "upgrade" it says I have the latest firmware. Not sure if this means Im still using 1.02.2 or not, and can this even affect my ping? I have seen people on youtube getting a steady 20-40ping but mine jumps up and down 60 to 90 almost all game. Hope there is some answers, thank you

As Sindonesia said, the upgrade has to be grabbed by the URL at this time. The Netduma auto-update feature has been disabled by the team at this time but will be part of the process in the future.

Regarding your ping, it is unlikely v1.02.2 has had any affect on your ping. It could either be a bad run of hosts (but within your geo-filter) / Xbox live - PSN problems (I think Xbox had issues yesterday and both have had intermittent issues since Christmas!) or your own connection.

Of the above the only one you will have any control of (and therefore should eliminate first) is your own connection. Couple of things to check if you feel your ping is too high:

- Is anyone else in the house using your connection at the same time? Have you setup congestion control correctly?

- Run a speedtest, wired directly to your PC with nothing else using network at same time, to confirm your connection is operating as expected. Any significant reduction in download / upload levels could indicate an issue with your ISP and / or your connection.

- Use the cmd prompt in windowns (terminal in linux / mac) to run a ping test. In cmd prompt type "ping -n 100 8.8.8.8" / In Linux terminal type "ping -c 100 8.8.8.8 / Unfortunately I am not sure of the Mac command. If your ping to 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS server - most people have good peering to it) is high / unstable then again it would indicate a possible connection issue.

Hopefully the above will enable you to better determine the cause of the issue.

King - once you have the new update I recommend you watch this video too so you make sure you have the optimal setup:

Okay so I upgraded to version 1.02.6, my download speeds are 50-55mbps and my upload is 10mbps. When I ping to 8.8.8.8 on my mac terminal it bounces from 18ms ping to 45ms ping. In game today I still am getting 3bars and my ping to host on the duma is 60-100 still.

I see people on youtube getting a consistent 20ms ping with their duma, will this even be possible if my ping to 8.8.8.8 bounces from 18-45ms?

Also just to make sure I have everything else set up correctly, my modem is a modem+router combined, I called the ISP and had them disable the router function (bridged mode) so my Duma is the primary router(this is how I achieved open nat types). My uPnP is enabled and I am not using port forward. I never use wifi for gaming, only ethernet. Is there anything else I can do to optimize the connection/ping? Or could it just be the Xbox Live servers having trouble?

Thank you for all the help so far

What distance did you have set where you were getting those games?

Yeah it should be a lot quicker with a wire, not sure whats happening there. On congestion control, make sure you have the preemptive algorithm selected and reset the device prioritisation. Have you tried hard turning off the xbox, unplugging the modem, unplug the r1, plug the modem back in, then the r1 and then xbox again and see if its stabilised.

My geo-filter has been set to 950km, I am on preemptive algorithm and i hard restarted everything you told me to do but I am still at 60+ ping and 3 bars. I am on strict mode in my geofilter as well. I am wondering if it is xbox related because there was only 1-3 people in the lobby with four bars. Is there anything else I can do to maybe troubleshoot this?

Is this with every game you get? Have you tried blocking the host and then disconnecting from it, waiting 2 minutes for the Geo-filter to clear all of the circles etc and then try searching again? It could be you going in to the same host quite a lot of the time. Otherwise I would say wait for the new update as it may help quite a lot :)

Okay great news, I blocked a couple hosts that I was being connected to and finally got a good one that i was at 30-35ping with.. The only thing is every time i get in a gunfight it will spike to 100ms, is this normal because of more stuff going on in game?

No that shouldnt be happening. Go to congestion control and set the download and upload to around 70% and then see if the issue persists.

Okay i set those to 70 each, everything has been working amazing now, thank you for such an awesome product. I would say the most important part is to rate/block the hosts, i feel every new host i get keeps getting better and better now. Im looking forward to the new updates and thankyou so much for all your help!
