omega4
When I use UPnP for Rainbow 6 Siege on the PS4, Netduma tells me that it's forwarding ports 9306 (UDP) and 3658 (UDP) to get a NAT Open status. So then, I turn off UPnP and port forward 9306 (UDP) and 3658 (UDP). I expect to get the same NAT Open status for the game. But I don't. I get a NAT Moderate status for the game when port forwarding. What else is UPnP doing in the background besides forwarding ports? Thanks.
Administrators Netduma Iain Posted December 25, 2016 Administrators Share Posted December 25, 2016 To be absolute sure you'd have to ask the game developers. But I would guess that the game checks if UPnP is available and if so then uses those ports otherwise defaults back to other ports. The default ports for xbox live is 3074/3075 iirc Hope that helps and merry christmas

In your particular example, I have those ports forwarded (and then some) as well (in addition to the ports that UPnP forwarded). Your point is well taken that without UPnP enabled, a game's developer could have the game defaulting to other ports that we gamers are simply unaware of. I really don't like Ubisoft as a developer lol. Their games always seem to have the most issues when it comes to port forwarding and NAT Open status. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year yourself! I love your product and have told all my friends/family about it and to get one. Best purchase I ever made for gaming!
