Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted December 21, 2014 Netduma Staff Share Posted December 21, 2014 Hi, So I know that once you connect to a host in a game you can drag the home bar to the middle of the sea and make it as small as you can and this is supposed to give some DDOS protection. I have a few questions about this! How does this stop the attack? Surely this just stops packets from reaching the device that the geo filter is activated on, or is this the point that is only offers limited protection and VPN is the only ultimate way to stop it? Thanks
Guest Netduma_Iain
That is a sort of honey pot hodge podge solution. It depends on the game, but basically it stops your console connecting to anyone you don't want it to. Typically a DDoSer, so for example in zonda's case he did that and saw the DDoSer appear as blocked yellow triangle in Manchester England lol. Guest Netduma_Iain
If you have a popular stream, put yourself in the middle of the Ocean, invite your friends on your allow list. Wait for the DDoSers to come, in security its called a honeypot. Basically you've gotta make yourself look as enticing as possible to a DDoSer lol

I was just wondering cause I was in a game and some mad kid who's care package I just stole said he would DDOS me (I know probably just a threat from a 12 year old) but the first thing I did was put myself in the middle of the Ocean and set the radius of the geo filter as small as I could. lol...Just a precaution
