OldPeddler
Hello all, Since I received and hooked up my new netduma, I've been unable to connect my Samsung SmartTV (via SmartHub) to the internet. The TV doesn't have any issues finding, connecting and getting assigned a network IP. But, for some reason, when I run (and attempt to use) the SmartTV features it says it cannot connect to the internet. Running the TV's network configuration tool results in the TV connecting to the network with the following addresses (all of which look correct)... IP Address: 192.168.88.106 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.88.1 DNS Server: 192.168.88.1 My network is as follows: Internet <=> Verizon FiOS Router <=> Netduma (DMZ'd) <=> All other devices (including my SmartTV) I tried looking up some info on what could be the issue and many people say that it could be a firewall issue but I can't find any firewall settings within the Netduma interface to allow/deny (in this case allow) access to certain devices. Looking in the Device Manager section I see the device listed with a 'nameless' name with a 'general' device type. From what I can tell the device isn't blocked from reaching the internet. I've attempted to delete the device in an attempt to reset the router recognizing the device. But the device never goes 'dormant' and the Netduma interface requires the device to be dormant in order to delete the device. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, OldPeddler

You said that the TV doesn't have any issues finding, connecting and getting an network IP. Does this mean that you are connecting using automatic settings? Sometimes this issue is caused when devices are set up with static IPs (when you type the info in and give the device an IP address that it always keeps). I assume they are, but are other devices connected to the Netduma and using internet? Is it just the TV that is having this issue? If you would like to delete the device and then reconnect the TV to see if it woks, you will have to restart the Netduma router first and the delete it from the device manager. This is all I can think of really that might help you Is there a network test on the TV you can run like you can on the Playstation and Xbox? And finally, just to check, you said in the device manager it looks like the device isn't blocked from using the internet. You can check this by clicking edit at the top of the page, and then finding the device you want to check, in your case the device with IP address 192.168.88.106. It should say BLOCK in the red box, not UNBLOCK. I'm sure someone else who has had this issue or something similar will be along soon with advice on the specific situation
Guest Netduma_Iain
Hi OldPeddler, I think people meant the verizons firewall could be blocking. I highly recommend putting the R1 into the other routers DMZ that way you'll open your NAT and I think tv will work as well. Could you try this please: http://wiki.netduma.com/doku.php?id=how_do_i_open_my_nat thanks!
