Strict Nat

Hi, 

I am constantly getting a strict NAT, after having a look through the forums and seeing different suggetions, like turning off the Geofilter while doing a NAT test, putting the R1 into the DMZ on my BT Homehub, or disabling the firewall on my homehub.

I have run into a few issues every time I either put the R1 into the DMZ or disable the homehubs firewall it "bricks" the R1 and I need to do the reconfiguration that Fraser talked me through a couple of weeks ago. So needless to say I am a little bit scared to try it again because I don't want to have to try doing that again.

 

Do you know of any other way of trying to make my NAT open?

Have you done everything here? :)

 

I have the same set up as you it sounds like. Please could you just confirm your set-up and the order of your routers just to make sure.  :)

Well i am having an issue with that my Homehub browser doesn't let me click home network it comes up with "Access error 500 : internal server error" but the steps after that I have tried before and that is what "bricked" my R1

Home hub 2

 

Try turning off smart set up. I have seen on forums that it could cause a 500 error.

 

advanced settings--->smart set-up--->click the 'no' box--->click apply

 

If it was already off, try factory resetting the Home Hub, some forums have also said that that does the trick. :)

dude seriously tomorrow phone up bt get through to tech support, say you net keeps slowing down and dropping and you're having all sorts of issues and they will send you a new home hub, home hubs arent great but the later versions are way better than the hh2

 

if the hh2 was a demogrphic it would be a pleb.;)

 

I would almost lay money the issue is the homehub is conflicting as bt used to put stupid software on them

If you can, get a HH4, not 5. For some reason, they sent me both. HH5 kept dropping connection so swapped to HH4 and it worked fine. :)

so you swapped a HH5 for a HH5 that sounds like a great upgrade  :P  ;)

Hahahaha I have been trying to get a new HH for months now and they just will not send one out, they have sent about 5 ADSL filters though lol

Also Crossy on this, I have tried the factory reset on the HH and now i cannot access the HH browser "

Access Error: 503 -- Service Unavailable" LMAO but the internet is still working! I love BT i really do honest

right how to deal with BT.. assuming you get through to "steve in india" ;) they are tier one tech support and about as much use as asking a rhododendron bush, but you use their abject stupidity against them...

 

say this " I have phoned up a few times as i keep having issues and last time i someone escalted my call to the tier 2 support, they told me if i was still having issues it was because my homehub is so old and told me to call back as it will obviously need repalcing"

 

trust me either they will do it there and then or transfer you to teier 2 tech, then if they do just say same thing but repalce tier 2 tech with a manager and they will send out a new one

also if you have been with BT for over a year and not changed your package you will be out of contract so its really easy to just request a new deal and demand a home hub too

I usually get Dave from Bangladesh but thank you Adam I will do this on the morrow and hopefully get a good result!

Unfortunately after trying all suggested in here my NAT is still strict and looks like I am going to be giving BT an earfull when I can :( if you can think of anymore suggestions I am willing to try
