I think Lukes timeframe of a few weeks is better then giving people an actual date as you can see that whenever a specified date is given and there are setbacks, they receive unnecessary derogatory comments, end of the day the R1 works pretty well as is.

I think if there was real 1000ms ping spikes you would probably disconnect from server, that is some serious lag lol.

The ports being used from 30000 - 65535 udp sport and dport are the connections to the dedis and port 3074 is used for player communication, the rest who knows lol

No there isn't to my knowledge. If you're doing it when playing a game though it is more likely to be UDP.

If you have a bad line with jitter and noise then no 300 quid router will fix that. Having said that when I see this new machine I almost get stirrings in the trouser depeartment as it is damn sexy looking I gotta admit!

I am personally sorry that you feel betrayed and are hurt from the actions of Netduma.  Let me ask you a very real question, do you know how NDAs work?  Because you act like they came out all look at the new Netgear router when that was just part of the netgear terms to buy their os...You are their customer, they do love you...don't feel hurt because they had some success, celebrate it with them and look forward to the future...

to dwell on the past is to admit you have no future.

it is the lower the better.....a modem sets the snr rate according to noise on the line, the more noise on a line there is the higher the snr has to be to compensate. I am on interleaving at the moment as i had a power outage due to a faulty kettle and it caused my line to go into DLM. Under normal conditions i get 75mbps down and 19 up on my line with a downlink snr of 9.0 but when DLM is activated my snr shoots up to around 13 and my download drops until DLM is lifted then I am put on fastpath and my snr drops to 9 again.

I do have a modem/router where I can adjust the snr myself but that isn't worth doing as it can cause problems. Also as far as I am aware snr manipulation can only be done on DSL lines.

    06. Stability Adjustment (VDSL)

    https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1015709/

This item allows you to tweak the target SNR Margin of VDSL.

Please go to "System Log - DSL Log", find downstream SNR Margin firstly.

For instance, with a downstream SNR Margin at 8dB, you could set to 7dB or lower to maximize the downstream performance,4dB (Max. performance) but please note the lower value it is, DSL modem router will be weaker to defend the line noise. Therefore, interruption might occur so please adjust with proper value. However, if VDSL connection is unstable or unable to establish a connection, for this case then set to a higher value such as 9dB ~ 30dB.

6db has been the default for a long time if you are so far away from the cabinet.

If you are close to the cabinet you get more headroom so you may have say 18db if you are right by it.

So to have 18db and max throughput is a good next to the cab.

If you live away from the cab and you have say 12db DLM has raised your SNRM to stop a EMI ,REIN or SHINE issue, or maybe you have just turned off your modem to many times in one day and the DLM has marked your line as dropping as it can and will do.

In the UK 3db SNRM is being trailed right now if your line has no noise and is stable.

The amount of time and effort you guys have put into this Firmware and from what I have seen so far it is outstanding. Cannot wait to get my hands on it in April. Cheers guys for all your hard work and every success for the future.

I think it is most important to realize a couple of things:

    1. Netgear will only have a couple of DumaOS features as they aren't using the same OS but just some of the addons of it
    2. When you buy a netduma you are buying the software not really the hardware..
I have bought countless routers and then switched out the OS for openwrt/dd-wrt/tomato...but none of them work perfectly and it always ends up being a frustrating endeavor.  With DumaOS you are using OpenWRT which is perfect and they have then modified it heavily for their features and to make it work perfectly on the hardware.

That's what you bought...the time it takes them to perfect the software to the hardware...i never used the R1 wifi...and i get that people are mad about it...but buy an access point, they are better than any routers wifi...

If you bought a R1 within the last couple months and want a netgear instead sell it and buy that...who cares? i mean the netgear won't have all the dumaos features so why is that even an argument...you are just wanting different hardware, once again you are paying netduma for the software, a big hint to this is netgear a world class hardware manufacture of routers PAID netduma for their software?  so...think before you get angry?

All in all this partnership will allow for more devs to work on DumaOS and hopefully we'll see these types of features only improve more over for the R1 and netgear routers.

I recently mentioned I have an eye condition that cannot be treated and so I have been forced to leave my job of 30 years. After feeling depressed about it I came across this youtube channel by a guy who is blind and plays video goames. I thought [email protected]!t but I watched him and I felt emotionally lifted knowing that I am not alone.....He has the same condition as I do which moved me deeply.

Sorry to hear about your eye mate and consequences you've suffered due to it.

I can clear up a few things. The delay for Nighthawk(NH) availability outside of the US is due to NETGEARs distribution system. It just takes longer to reach different centres and channels, I don't know the details but that is the main reason. Also we need to fully integrate language translation into NH which we're doing at the moment. I know UK speaks English obiviousy but NG distributes in terms of regions. So UK is part of EU. To distribute to EU you need language translation for many countries.

DumaOS is not delayed on the R1 by NG. They have no such control over what we do with our own hardware and when we do it. We are partners with NG, we do not work for them, cannot state that more clearly. R1 is delayed due to hardware challenges we're solving at the moment namely automatic turbo mode(fastpath) which is required by DumaOS (user doesn't have to fiddle with UI to get max speeds) and finally how configurations are partitioned (hopefully making DumaOS unbrickable).

Finally our hardware will have more features because we will create experimental features based on our roadmap and community feedback. Only when NG approves of a new feature will it go on their router. So likely the NG will slightly behind our hardware in terms of bleeding edge features. Which for the typical consumer is ideal as they don't want to test out stuff that may not be useful or is complicated. But if you're that way inclined then enjoy the experience with our hardware.

Hope that clears up everything for you(Big Dog) and anyone else reading this thread. Here's to a very tech productive 2018!
