Exactly. If your performance is up to snuff, and you can be sure that no other computer or person is using your connection while you're gaming, then you shouldn't spend time worrying about bufferbloat.
But... If you get random lag, you need to consider the possibility that bufferbloat is a problem. Use the Waveform or Speedtest.net tools to see their results.
